McGree’s transfer request?

I think the plan was 30% but then Rogers got poached, very little we could do once his head was turned. That's the reality of being a championship side
It's actually more like 45% of the team.

Out of the 7 players you've nebtiondd good enough for first team. 3 of them are CBs so only 6 of them would start. Are we actually looking for 5 first team players Mart?

LB, RB, CM, No10, Striker.
Bottom line is when Scott came in 2 1/2 years ago, the squad was a mess, it had been chronically underfunded since the Monk splurge, largely because of the impact of that splurge and FFP regulations. It was always going to take multiple windows to turn it around and to ride out the impact of the Monk and Pulis spend
He's had 5 windows. We are further away from PL football than what we were when he got here.

We failed to get the striker we wanted in the summer but had enough with Rogers. When Rogers got tapped up we were in january scrambling for a striker, but decided against panic buying. You don't get value in January and as you rightly pointed out, value is important.

We made 3 or 4 quality signings last summer Dieng, Rav, Rogers, and Lath. You could also include O'brien, maybe Bangura we don't know with injuries. It certainly isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

We definitely didn't have enough with Rogers. Not even close. Rogers wasn't intended to be a starter this year in his own position never mind as a striker. He was a development player. It was financially successful but he wasn't a regular starter and he wasn't a regular contributor when he was this season (he had the potential to become one but he wasn't in his time with us). He played because we had nobody else. He didn't even play up front when we had nobody else. He played behind Silvera and Greenwood. We wanted a striker in the summer and Coburn was supposed to go on loan. The recruitment team should have had someone lined up for January, we were already clearly short before then. It would have been a panic buy o get one in on deadline day after selling Rogers but it was obvious that we needed a striker the entire season so we should have had one lined up.

Bangura was behind Engel in the pecking order when they were both fit so if Engel isn't good enough then Carrick thinks Bangura isn't either. Lath is massively still a doubt. If Coburn was fit Lath wouldn't even be starting and Coburn isn't good enough for a promotion challenge either. Really it is Dieng, Rav with a lot of potential and Rogers who I'm still not wholly convinced about but that has worked out financially so we can have that one.

Bottom line is the squad was a mess and it still is. We've made no progress so he's doing pretty much as good a job as Gill and co. were doing. It's not terrible but I certainly wouldn't be championing it as a success in any way.

It's hard to tell isn't it. We could play 3 CBs, we could get Smith back fully fit, Engel might improve with a full pre-season, someone might step up from the ressies. Lots of variables at play. We also don't need to be perfect to get promoted, There have been poor players in promoted sides before, I remember Blackmore playing a lot of games for us under Robson. In our last promotion, Kalas, Nugent, Amorebiata, De Laet, Kike Garcia, De Pena, Zucchelini, Reach and Fabrini started 86 games, that's basically 2 positions in the team taken up by very, very average players.

I don't think numerically this will be as big a rebuild.

Of course he was, but probably not as a striker. He was a regular at Blackpool int he champo already the season before. We relied on two CFs and 2 people slightly shoehorned into that role, they felt that was enough to avoid making a knee jerk signing. Personally I think we should have loaned a CF to backup to the other two.

Akpom made a decision to take a step up.
I think the Riley rumours are just that... He is still trying to get fully fit and this mid week was a big step forward.
You can't make a decision to leave when you are under contract. He had a year left. We let him go. If we had wanted to keep him we could have done. We couldn't force him to sign a new contract but we could have made him stay (not that that would've been a good idea).

At the beginning of the season McGree was one of the first players in the group to bach Carrick 100%. A couple of weeks later a French club and Spanish made strong enquiries about. Straight away he said, I want to go. Carrick was fuming about his quick u turn, just before the start of the season. Hence the fall out and McGree not starting quite a few of the opening fixtures.
McGree has not been happy since.
Wow, so is it Michael Carrick or Riley McGree that you know personally?

Just what I think, no evidence, no social media rumours. We have been really struggling and McGree has been on the bench. When he came back from international duty we where desperate for a creative player with Crooks and Rogers leaving and he couldnt get in the team.
I think he only didn’t start the first game back?

Falling out with Carrick and Transfer Request feel like absolute tosh to me.

One year left on his deal. If he won't sign a new one then sell him.
Good player. His best performances are of a standard needed for a promotion push. Needs to be more consistent which I think is more a reflection of his injuries / fitness. I would be surprised if he could get a move to a PL team
