Absolutely brilliant on Channel 4 News just now. Unfortunately he wasn't allowed to question the MP over the state of our waters.

Water companies have been breaking the law, and continue to do so today, whilst taking our money to pay shareholders dividends. Why aren't the government holding them to account and in doing so breaking the law themselves.

What's the answer. Should we stop paying the water companies until they go bust?

He speaks very well on this matter.

Yep, our waterways are an absolute joke. Raw sewage should not be hitting our rivers.

Water should be free for everyone, it’s an essential for life, along with free energy for all, and if our government actually cared about the people they allegedly serve they would be. We pay more than enough in tax for them to be so - instead all of these things are in the hands of greedy capitalists.

I worked in the Water Industry between 2020 - 2022. Post Ukraine some of the chemicals needed to treat waste water became ridiculously expensive. I can’t say for sure, but it wouldn’t surprise me if English water companies have lobbied the Government to allow them to dump untreated waste water based on money.

For fairness. The people I worked with at Northumbrian Water were great people just doing their job. NWL do treat a load of waste water.

That would only make sense if they weren't posting record profits and paying out massive dividends year on year.

This needs to be added to the Brexit benefits thread :)

UK Agri businesses are also now using pesticides that are banned in the EU and UK is not banning substances of very high concern that have recently been added to the EU's list of dodgy chemicals.

As I understand it, the water IS free. We are being charged for treatment, distribution, infrastructure, wages, sewage.

Exactly that. There is a massive infrastructure. I have no issues paying a water bill, but is should be less than it is and not count towards profit. A profit in the case of Northumbrian Water that goes to Hong Kong.
