Big Matt Clarke

22 games this season so far (I think) … so could get close to the 30 game mark by the end of the season which is fantastic for him 👌

Look at the teams weve played during this good defensive run of clean sheets brum qpr sheff wed Swansea. The biggest reason for the clean sheets is playing against shîte opposition. If we get good results at hull Ipswich and leeds then i, will say fair play.
But in the reverse fixtures all these teams except Birmingham scored against us?

All games are tough and we defend from the front, so if the press is right from the front men and midfield the defence should have little to do, I expect us to maybe go back to a back 5 away to Hull to restrict space

Doesn’t suit the Dael Fry is the best thing since sliced bread narrative that though 👀
Dael s a good championship player who is a good defender in a defensive unit.

On Dael he hasn't been mentioned what's wrong with him?

Glover elbow always says he’s the best we have. I absolutely disagree. And it’s a fair comparison as he will have played in some of them games mentioned by BG

I think it's hard to pick holes in some of the players as depending on the others around them they can look good or bad nut as fans if you take a particular dislike to a certain player, normally you only tend to see and comment on the mistakes and don't mention the good that the player does too, I suppose that's just human nature.

Fry is an example of this, when we have played a more defensive unit he looks comfortable when we open up he isn't mobile enough and both Rav and Paddy have proven ore appropriate in the 3.

I don’t dislike Fry but he would be no where near my first choice team. Clarke and VDB best of the bunch.

If we could sell Dael I would but not sure if that’s a possibility.

The thing is we've actually got 5 good CBs at this level. You would think 4 would be enough but some how we've currently got Jonny at CB 😅.

Like I said on the other Clarke thread there's arguments to be made for all of them. Lenihan is the best with the ball at his feet. Clarke is the best out and out defender and most dominant in the air. VDB is the best athlete and brings a bit of pace. I think Fry and McNair are both quite well rounded players.

I think it's a position we are well covered and could probably even let McNair go without thinking we need another CB especially if we give Jonny another season.

He has been very good recently. He won the player of the season award recently at WBA so he must have something about him.
