Like him or not, and I wasn't a fan at all, but Blair had the charisma to carry it off, as John Smith had prior to him. I'm not sure Starmer has, so the policies have got to make a difference.

Lots have posted on here for years and don't appear to have the same insecurities as Scrote has when it comes to politics. This thread is over 100 pages long and over 18 months old but he does seem to be a bit of latecomer to it.

To me it seems odd you'd say that given how you'll scramble about trying to discredit any criticism of Starmer from the left?
Scary thought isn't it, wondering what will come next? Easy to imagine a time when the tories scorched earth policies have made it impossible for Starmer and Reeves' incremental approach to have accomplished anything, the media stop treating him so softly, and suddenly Starmers leadership gets presented as being "leftwing" politics having failed.

The Labour Party doesn't belong to you in the same way as it doesn't belong to me. The membership voted him in and the electorate will shortly do the same. I'm not sure what you were up to from '79 to '97 or from 2010 onwards but I've got news for you, there's been one Labour government in the last 45 years and lots of folk are desperate for another one.
That's all very true and to me it's all very depressing. Replacing one really stinky turd with another turd that doesn't smell quite as dreadful isn't my idea of a victory.

Indeed, and one that doesn't let them down. The policies will give us a clue as to whether the membership or the media are having the most influence on the leadership, and who the leader needs most once in power.

Clarity of message might be important but words can have various meanings/forms of use and adults can generally infer the usage from the context.

Again, calling a group of people "psychopaths" and meaning that those people are actual psychopaths based on a clinical definition are two different things. You might never use words outside of their very narrow academic definitions but other people do, and other other people understand it.
