What now in remaining games.

So Ayling and Greenwood cannot play Vs Leeds.

It will be very interesting to see if Carrick just sticks with his usual players. So Silvera stays in and Rav to right back, Howson in the middle and Barlaser into midfield.

I would really love to see Finch given some time. Also one of two of the others who have been in the squad. But I just don't think it will happen. Carrick really does go with what he thinks is his best team. He seems to base this a lot on having as much experience as possible.

I wonder, if Leo hadn't given Hackney those games, whether Carrick would have played him. So glad Leo did. I do thinks it's a shame Carrick doesn't seem to have any faith in any of the other young players.

I am looking forward to next season. We are seeing again now that Carrick can coach players - our football is once against very good. We do just some extra quality in the middle of the park and in the wide attacking positions. Lath, Coburn and one more up front should be fine.

If Sorba Thomas is true it will be interesting to see if he can step up from being good in a relegation team to a promotion chasing team. Azaz I think will make the jump, Barlaser I don't think ever will truly.

Long wait until Leeds now. Possibly chance for Hackney, Bangura, and possibly Fry to get back fit. I'm guessing Coburn is done for the season.

So Lath is on a run but you'd play Finch instead? Or in addition?
I dont think Carrick will be resistant at all towards youth if he think they're good enough and ready.

I think the reason Carrick played Silvera today is because Greenwood can't play against Leeds, and Silvera hasn't had much real game time recently.

We'll probably go with exactly the same team, with Silvera starting and Dijksteel in for Ayling.

(Unless Hackney is back from injury)

I'm sure we all remember what happened to Akpom after Carrick rested him for the Luton game, he didn't score another goal for us after that.

Obviously I'm not saying that would happen with Lath but if he continues to score goals in the remaining games I feel he will feel confident he can score goals pre-season, and at the start of the next season.

When a striker is on a scoring run they become determined to maintain it for as long as they can.

Or

we play 532 as Luke can’t play…

Dieng
Izzy Rav Jonny Clarke maybe bangura

LOB Barlassor Azaz

Silvera Lath

Carrick doesn’t like dijksteel and he has had no game time at all….play Jonny at the back and jonesy wing back and possibly bangura the other side

That’s our best chance surely and Leeds are in a right bad place!

Change of formation would be ideal for this dilemma

I think we have to respect the integrity of the competition Vs Leeds, play our strongest available team, and beat them.

Cardiff and Watford will probably be meaningless, so I would take the chance to blood a youngster or two.

Another game, another set of reasons why we can’t play your own young players.

We can’t play them when we’re trying to go up, or trying to stay up, or trying to make the playoffs, or playing a team trying to go up. We must wait for the final day of the season and then people can say ‘well we won’t really learn anything from a dead rubber anyway so it’s a pointless exercise isn’t it.’

The argument that “if they’re good enough they they’ll play” doesn’t stand up. Hackney was good enough to play under Wilder but he wasn’t given the opportunity. What some of us are saying is - is it really too much to expect to see the best of our youth team given 2 or 3 runouts now our hopes of promotion are gone?

Personally I would be really disappointed if we never used these games to blood some of these kids. I’ve always been quite confident Carrick was committed to developing Boro’s young players but actually I’m not so sure any more. It will be interesting to see if he does it in the next 2-3 weeks instead of persisting with a clutch of senior players who either aren’t good enough or we don’t outright own, or both.
