Who Did Your Parents Have an Irrational Hatred of?

My mum hated TV strongman Jon Pall Sigmarsson with an incredible passion. She had met Geoff Capes at the Spalding Tulip Festival (he was displaying his budgies) and he had been really nice to her. She hated JPS's 'I am a Viking' persona. It was the most out of character thing, my mum is a lovely, quiet woman, but if he came on the screen, the red mist came down. Oh, and Eric Bristow, she despised him.
We need to hear more about Geoff Cape's budgies and why he felt the need to display them in front of your mum.

Like a few other posters dad's, mine couldn't stand Jimmy Hill too. Now due to my ageing memory can't for the life of me remember why, sure he told me at the time.

My dad reached the end of his tether with the cast of Friends when it was constantly on our telly during the mid-90s. "Can't you kids watch something else for god's sake?"

My mam finds Giles Brandeth and his creepy teddy bear obesessions 'too much to deal with right now'.

My old fella wasn't fond of the Boro board after the way they treated his hero Wilf Mannion. He never really forgave them. He did always buy me and my brother ST, but never had a good word for the Boro board or the monarchy☘️, or the British armed forces, their officers and anybody above private rank really.
He served in Egypt Suez, and the sweet water canal as a driver in the Royal Artillery, which me and my kids always used his name as Gunner - followed by his Christian name.
He detested the Army because they wanted ordinary working class people to smash up and break the heads of dirt poor people, just because they could.
He spent his time in the Army mostly trading stuff - eggs, some food and beer between the different British camps there.

He used to put out the cricket wicket matting they used there, and pegged it into the floor, and was always asked by the officers team to chuck a bucket of water on it to dry in the mid-day sun, and received 10 shilling as a bribe. Shortly after the NCO team also bribed him 10 shilling to do the same thing as well.

Tories, he was never fond of any of them, right up until the very day he left the stage at 76 yrs old.
He was an Iron Moulder by trade, and served his time at Dorman's. He worked at all the well know foundries, Shaws, Cochrans, Head Wrightson, but went into driver sales in the mid-60s and loved every minute.
He had a million stories and could hold court like the best, he had an unmistakeable marvellous soft Middlesbrough accent, not a harsh Stockton , Teesside or woolly back accent.
When I hear this accent, and there's the odd person speaking like it still, I turn my head, and I think of my dad. He was very well read in history and politics, and loved horse racing.

He reduced his stance about the Boro board under the great bunch of men who saved the club in 86.

My mother, she disliked Germans, they killed her brother during WW2, she wouldn't be swayed no matter what was said.
But she was very fond of the monarchy, manners, and being a Catholic, but stopped going to church before I was in the junior school.

Sorry to ramble on but I miss them every bl00dy day.

My Father in law had a strange dislike for Nicki Chapman. Whenever she appeared he would start muttering about her always taking other people's jobs.

My mother had a deep hatred of Jim Carey, said he had a rubber face and it frightened her…wouldn’t watch any of his films.
