Can we talk about Riley McGree?

Sheff Utd aren’t daft… Sander Berge usually plays further forward for them, but they put him on the right of their midfield 3 today, and he just walked right over McGree all game

Decent going forward, but is so soft in the tackle it makes Dijsteel look strong. He needs to be in peoples faces and he just isn’t at the races imho!

Yeah berge, is probs the best midfielder in the league, wilder should of spotted it earlier and switched the midfield up. Sadly he didn’t, as he doesn’t seem to have a plan b. I always thought warnock was the dinosaur, wilder doesn’t seem to be too far behind him. But the team is in transistion and wilder clearly doesn’t have the squad he wants. Hopefully it falls into place before September.

Just looks a bit light weight. I'm by no means writing him off. Think he's being exposed by no Tav 'type' in and around him.

I think we should just ease up a bit as I've already got the feeling he's becoming a 'target' on here. It's 3 games in.

I have a sneaky feeling he will be the one must likely to make way for Mowett. A Mowett ike the one at Barnsley will be some player and walk into our CM

Needs to bulk up, but has the skills. He played up front supporting Akpom (as he did against Marseille) when Forss went off and we looked better for it. I think that's his position with Mowatt taking over in midfield if Wilder needs to go that way.

A little disappointing so far. I thought he was going to be a big player for us when we signed him. Still time though, fingers crossed he can up his game and have more of an impact.

For me he's being asked to replace a player with a completely different skill set in a midfield set up that should be maybe modified to suit the parts playing in it.

I remember the excitement on this board after his performances for Brum, is he being asked to play the same role?

OP wants to hang him out to dry I suspect. He needs improvement but I see it coming. Watmore buries that chance near the end we win that game - no moaning

He has a great first touch and is technically superb. Decent passer of the ball as well. Unfortunately he does lack the physicality to play the kind of role Wilder wants in midfield. Seems a strange signing in some ways as he needs the freedom to play a bit higher up as his game isn't suited to playing deeper in the kind of game he was in today. But he isn't ever going to get that under Wilder.

Yeah I think he’s only suited to the sort of role Gibbs-White played for Sheff Utd last season in a similar system.

I’m certainly not writing him off completely
