£22bn Track & Trace

Let's add a bit of context, 37 billion is 37% of a trillion. Our national debt is 2 trillion (I believe) and was just under 1 trillion 970 billion before the pandemic. So 37% of the debt incurred during the pandemic has gone on track and trace. It doesn't work. 37% of the debt uncurred has been spent, and we are continuing to spend on a system that doesn't work.

If you are not absoloutely appalled and staggered in equal measures you're an idiot.

A basic track and trace app was offered by infosys at cost 75,000 US dollars and plenty of countries took up this offer. Thta equates to 0.0002% of the cost to us the tax payer for track and trace. Granted there would have been additional costs, but we are being robbed.

Another context, we have 1250 NHS hospitals in the UK. Our NHS budget is currently 114 billion. The cost of track and trace would have funded in excess of 400 additional hospitals for a year.

The tories are F***ing crooks

Think you'll find it's 3.7% of a trillion. Unless a trillion's 100 billion these days, you never can tell. Still a mind blowing amount of cash though. About £560 for every man, woman and child in the UK. You'd notice that much in your asre pocket.

US or EU trillion I guess. We went to US billions about 20 years ago, not sure about trillions, you may be right FG

the £560's right whichever way. it actually means something most people will be able to identify with. Trillions are a bit meaningless really.
 
How can the Government spend this much money for something so useless?

About 15 years ago I bought a pair of walking boots from an online retailer, never bought anything since. I have changed email addresses about 3 times, moved house twice, and they still send me a frigging email about every 2 weeks. Amazing.
 
How could you spend that much on a computer programme? Genuine question if you are into IT...How many programmers does it take? what are the costs?

I work fo Infosys, we developed a track and trace app for 75,000 USD. It was offered at cost to any goverrnment who wanted it.

However that is not the only costs, you need the infrastructure and servers and people to run the whole thing.

Who knows sneakers, serco are crap I know this because someone I went to uni with is very senior thete and she was rubbish at the tech but could write a good report.
