“Offensive” train announcement

Yes, I know it’s from the Mail, but I don’t give a phuque because it is bloody ridiculous.

It’s kr@p like this that will result in people turning to the conservatives more and more.

How on earth could this push someone towards the conservatives? Really not seeing the correlation here

I agree with you to a point. However, I am starting to wonder whether its 'wokeness' that is actually out of touch. There's no doubt that its accepted by the 'media class' (and as someone who works in and around that industry and uses social media etc I am not opposed to it), but is it accepted by 'the people'? I think that's what GazMFC was getting at.
The media lap up these made up bull**** terms because they create traffic and cause arguments but I can't for the life of me work out how 'do-gooder' became an insult. "Oh, look at them over there doing GOOD. instead of doing evil the stupid sods."

I think its more about someone who wants to be *seen* to be doing good, but is actually probably doing it for their own image.

But that seems to just stem from self centred gits who literally can't imagine anybody caring about other people unless there was something in it for them. That says more about them then it does about anything else.

Well its not a term I use. But I do think there are a fair few folk who won't actually do a good turn unless they can take public plaudits for it. Hence why Twitter has turned out to be the tool it is. Its just hundreds of millions of people mostly trying to 'out good' each other.

I'm sure that's true but that term gets thrown at young people a lot in particular who are just genuinely trying to make the world a better place.

Hmm, well I'm sure lots of youngsters want to make the world a better place but that doesn't mean some of them aren't just saying what they're saying for the 'likes'. Its not just youngsters by any means though.

I mean when you think about how many journalist's jobs it must be now to just scour twitter 18 hours a day looking for things to write about. It makes you wonder what did journalists actually used to do before Twitter? It doesn't seem like it could have been a full-time job!

This has absolutely nothing to do with political parties... the fact you come to that conclusion is more absurd than the whole train announcer argument. You can be ‘left’ leaning and still think this is way over the top.

This thread has been hilarious to read.

What I don't understand is why this would make people vote tory?

Would you expect them to introduce an act of Parliament banning the recognition of non-binary people?

If you're an intolerant old gammon then just embrace it it and crack on, you don't need the daily mail to give you an 'excuse'.

How the hell do you address a person at the start of a letter, can you write 'Dear *******' without offending someone or something.

What sort of individual raises a thread like this to take the pzz out of a very small minority of people?
Laughing at other people because of their gender and sexuality?
Sick.

'Dear Sirs' was always the correct, non-binary salutation. My boss used to say 'you must use it even if your letter is addressed to Charlie's Angels'.

What has that got to do with more people voting Tory? The PM is a vile, sick, corrupt racist and not sure why this story would drive none vile, sick, corrupt or racist people towards his party

Gord, if you really don’t know why things like this will make people vote Tory then you are naive. People will associate the Tories with being against things like this and the Tories will milk it.

The fact that the Daily Mail sends the OP into a ridiculous pie crust spitting rage in a world where real stories of corruption and sleaze should be doing so is evidence enough that we live in worrying times.

Pie crust spitting rage? What are you on about? It’s things like this that the average floating voter notices, not issues of corruption and sleaze however vital they may be, and if you don’t realise this then you, too, are very naive.

No they don’t push people to the right at all. What this kind of stuff is designed to do is garner those with a right wing bias already.
So you think I have a right wing bias? How wrong you are.

You like to THINK that anyone who thinks this is ridiculous is right wing. That is rubbish. The average centreist voter , the sort of people who are the battleground at any election, will consider that this is ridiculous.
