😔

They really should bring back the death penalty for vultures & utter, dispicable cowards like those two
No, the death penalty is too good. I'd like 10 minutes with the two of them, and then I'd hand them over to someone else as I know the queue to avenge that little boy would be long enough to ensure that they were begging to die long before the last person had finished with them.

Barbaric, me, you'd better believe it.

Although you would like to think so (learning), how many other cases have we seen like this and how many children have to die before our social service system gets its act together.

I have followed this case and have shed many a tear at the thought of this poor child being physically abused, going hungry, thinking he was unloved and knowing and telling others that one day his father was going to kill him.
The failings are not just social services, safeguarding children is everyone’s business.

Sadly it sounds like the worst abuse was happening during lockdown when the usual agencies, such as schools weren’t seeing this poor lad deteriorate and couldn’t raise the alarm.

There will be countless other cases of child abuse during the lockdowns that will come out that could have been prevented too. It's sad and it's not right.

After just retiring from education, I fully understand that safeguarding is everyone's business and how it works. Unfortunately, I have had to make safeguarding referrals on several occasions. Yes, this tragedy happened during the lockdown and the usual support structure was not in place but, the child's grandmother reported and showed social services pictures of bruises on his back the week before he died and social services failed to act.

I understand that social services are stretched and need an influx of funding from the government but questions will need to be asked why they didn't act upon the concerns of his grandmother and heads will need to roll. This boy was let down badly.

"In one audio clip, Arthur could be heard crying "no-one loves me," repeating the phrase four times, while in another he cries "no-one's gonna feed me" seven times."

This broke me. Absolutely horrendous.

Me too. Not ashamed to say I cried.

I cant even read beyond the headline, as I find this sort of thing haunting and too upsetting. Like some others said, I am somehow more easily upset by such news since having kids.

The short video clip on the news last night was so, so upsetting. Had me quietly weeping (and has set me off typing this)

His little voice 😭
I don’t think any news story has upset me as much as this one. I just can’t stop thinking about that innocent little boy crying on his own, scared and nobody there to help him. How are people so evil?
The thing I can’t get my head around is this sentence -

‘The court also heard Arthur had told others his "dad was going to kill him", he expressed this to his wider family, his doctor and his school.’ 😭😭

That is so awful to read, I wasnt aware of that 😔

The same old **** being rolled out "Lessons must be learnt"

Well I want to know

What lessons were learnt from the tragic death of Daniel Pelka?

What lessons were learnt from the tragic death of Keanu Williams?

What lessons were learnt from the tragic death of Keegan Downer?

What lessons were learnt from the tragic death of Victoria Climbie?

How did we fail poor little Arthur when we have supposedly learnt so many lessons from the tragic deaths that had come before?

Very easy to point the finger at social services and if course, a thorough investigation needs to be carried out and questions need to be asked. But let’s remember, they are as stretched, if not more, than the NHS.

Sometimes the anger and vitriol is misplaced away from the scum who actually carried out the offence.

I couldn't listen and only heard the brief on the news and a worded report.
I still felt myself brimming over, and now I'm just very f'in angry. Yes, social services should have picked up on it, but the scum who did it deserve a very prolonged and horrible ending. I hope they get it.

Have to say I wasn't up on the story until I read it today. I saw the headline for the sentences first and fully expected the 29 year sentence to be for the man.
Utterly horrified to see the sub-human excuse for a female was convicted of the murder.

Both deserve a medieval execution.

One of the worst stories I've read in years this.

She'll never step foot outside that prison again, and nor should she. Even she does make it out, it won't be for long. Teh bloke is just as bad for partaking, or letting it happen.

Someone will get to them in prison, and I can't imagine the guards would stop them either, don't blame them. The two scumbags might even take matters into their own hands before that happens.

It's the salt poisoning that really got to me also, who the actual **** would do that, what a pair of absolute *****.

Poor little boy, nobody should ever have to go through anything like that, and I feel sorry for his family who cared about him. Also feel sorry for the jury and those others in court too, must have been awful to have to go through that.

It genuinely shocks me how any anyone can be this evil. I had a lump in my throat watching the footage of him holding the duvet, whilst crying out in distress.

I'm a mild-mannered person and would never usually advocate violence, but in this case I'll make an exception.

Just hope an inmate doesn't take it one step further and kills them. Wouldn't want anyone having to waste their life doing a life sentence for those two waste of skins.

I've already mentioned further down from the post you quoted that social services are stretched and that they would benefit from extra funding. The question I would like answering though is why didn't they didn't act on the verbal and photographic information supplied by his grandmother.

I wouldn't say my anger is aimed at social services but they do have questions to answer.
