14 yellow cards for Crooks

Never been a fan but then he started to make some good well timed runs and score some vital games. He relies too much on the dirty side of the game for me.
Today he lost the ball to player he fouled. You could see his intention was to deck a long time before he did.

We can improve on him for sure next season

"Brilliant" never in this world, you do not go from brilliant to bang average in four games, League one at best.

3 match ban if he gets another yellow in the last 6 games.

He will get another yellow too, I'd sooner it was in the next two matches whilst we're clinging on to our play-off hopes.
To be fair, he's been absolutely terrible the last 3 or 4 games. Probably needs a rest, and we have McGree back and Payero in training. So the sooner he gets the card, gets a rest, and gets his form back the better.

I don't buy the "rest" lark, it's been international break. He is carrying an Injury or he has found his level and the rest of the team have gone a step further and he's struggling to keep up. Seriously though he looks like an injured man.

He's a good bottom half starter, and useful top half squad player. When he's playing well, he's good enough, but he has too many games and too many moments where he isn't playing well to be relied on for a full season. Happy to have him in the squad, but not as a nailed on starter

substitute rest for recuperate. I agree he's not at full fitness.

Hes had some good moments granted, somthing hasn't been "right" for awhile though, injury he is trying to "manage" is my guess. We have not the depth currently to be able to say sit out. Crooks is going what he can for the team but he is far off the pace.

It's always going to effect you when booked after 20mins. He's a player that's always got a foul in him.

So he's basically walking on egg shells from a very early stage.

A bit like Morsy. Although you get more out of Crooks. Booking machines can become a bit of a liability. I'm sure it's something he will have to cut out next season.

He has been poor since his 2 game ban. He looks lethargic and makes far too many mistimed tackles. He is a good league one midfielder that is too often found out In our league. The longer the season has gone on his deficiencies have slowly but surely outweighed his positives. By the season end he will have missed 6 games through suspension (unless dropped).

His height and his link up play with Jones has been the positive. His tackling is not good enough, I think his speed of thought and reaction to situations developing are off where they should be, that leads to him over reaching in tackles or people zipping by as he lunges in. I like his personality and he does have some endearing qualities, but in the round, i can’t keep forgiving his faults.

Hope Jones is back next week. Crooks on the bench. He’s becoming a bit of a liability

Some wild views on this thread, he's one of the players of the season and our top goalscorer.
He certainly wouldn't win the accolade, he is to this season what Forshaw was in the Prem. Very decent first half, gash afterwards.

Jones would win a landslide vote for player of the season and think Howson and Tav would fit in behind him.

That's all fair comment. He isn't ever going to be a top player because he has as many positives as negatives to his game. He'll have purple patches, and he'll have liability spells. I would think that Payero might have outed him from the starting XI if he had stayed fit

Some right foolishness on here. Him Jones and Djikstil have been superb in combination on the right side. With Tav and Johnny he has formed a competent midfield. He remains our top scorer. Yet a few poor games (without Jones) and he's the worst player to ever sully a football pitch. He looks leggy possibly through injury, a knock or just a drop in form.

A quick glance at the options on the bench at the moment tells you we can I'll afford to lose anyone from midfield.

Yeah, I'm not going to pretend he hasn't struggled in recent weeks but for 3/4s of the season I think Crooks has been superb.

He only cost us £1m and he's been the best value midfielder we've signed in years.
