1979 blast from the past - North Midland league

Alan Walsh in there for Boro as well - he had a long career after being released by Boro erven having a few years in other countries - Turkey and Wales

@TeessideCleveland, also at No5 was Gary Briggs, he didn't make any first-team appearances for the Boro & later in the season (1977-78) moved to Oxford United, 1st ever transfer tribunal. Briggs spent eleven years at the & was a big favourite there, Capy's probably right in his post, though looking through my Boro book we played Birmingham at home on the 22nd March 1977, most likely after his loan to Hull City had finished
 
Also Dave Brown who was, along with Pat Cuff, challenging Jim Platt for the No1 jersey, left the club in the summer of 1978

JohnNeal in his debut season had tried out both Pat Cuff & Dave Brown in the 2nd half of 77-78 season, giving them both 10 games each to see if either were adequate No1's, neither were in his plans & John Neal went out & bought Jim Stewart
 
It was summer 77 when StanCummins went on loan to Minnesota Kicks before he came back and established himself in the first team.
