8 worst Boro players in modern era.

Distinct difference between worst player and worst signing, which this list doesn't differentiate. Given context Alves was our worst signing, the amount he cost, the fact we couldn't afford to get that particular signing wrong at that particular time, given the nature of cost cutting occurring etc, but you can't really call a Brazilian international with a top flight hat trick your worst player.

Alves scored a hat trick v City & 2 v Man U ( when they were good ) at least there was a player in there, if not really cut out for English game..

He was the top scorer in all European leagues for 18 months prior to joining us. Might not have worked out at Boro but to suggest the lad is an awful footballer seems bizarre.

See also Mido above, obviously never clicked at Boro but was incredible for Ajax in his younger, lighter days :)

That wasn't the point I was making at all. i literally said "you can't really call a Brazilian international with a top flight hat trick your worst player"

I was saying he was AWFUL for us as a signing, given the context of the situation around the club at that given time, so for me would have to be our worst signing, but not worst player. Similar with Britt, far from our worst player, but up there with worst signing.

Reizieger was the biggest disappointment of expectation vs reality. I was expecting a right footed ziege what we got was Dijksteel standard
He was terrible given the clubs he'd played for (see also Hoyte and Barragan). The right backs' graveyard we are.

Made a similar point earlier in the thread about the difference between worst signing and worst player.

I thought your example of Alves was pretty clear!
