9 minutes to die

Absolutely it would. Nitrogen is used in certain industries to purge equipment, and is known to be nasty if not managed correctly. Terrible that it’s been used to execute someone.

Besides, the man spent 34 years in prison for a murder. Shouldn’t that be punishment enough? No doubt he was a very different person to the young lad who carried out the crime.

If someone killed someone i love, i don't think i'd see 34 years as enough, regardless of the age they were when they committed the crime. I'd want them dead or inside for the rest of their days.

That said, 9mins is a hell of a long time and this story is extremely inhumane and i find it mind-blowing that they chose this method as other drugs are becoming hard to find...

“The 45-year-old was beaten with a fireplace implement and stabbed in the chest and neck, and her death was staged to look like a home invasion and burglary.”

Barbaric.
Wouldn't a bullet have been more humane?

Thankfully we have a criminal justice system that prevent mobs justice being handed out.

“A journalist who witnessed the execution described to the BBC how he thrashed violently on the gurney, and said the process took around 25 minutes in total”

I couldn’t do this to someone.

Absolutely disgusting. The warnings had been aired by various doctors prior to the execution. This should never have been allowed and hopefully never happens again.

Is capital punishment mob justice? I'd say absolutely not.
I'd say it's very easy to have an extreme opinion on capital punishment either way when you haven't been affected by a lad beating and stabbing to death, someone you love.

I was referring to your statement of wanting people dead or in prison for life. The criminal justice system is there to prevent mob justice like you describe.

If you murder someone, if there is irrefutable evidence or even admission of guilt that you have taken a life in the way this fella did then i absolutely believe he deserves the spend the rest of his days in prison, and if that happens in a country or state whereby they have the death punishment then that is their justice system and the person behind the crime is well aware of that and thats another argument for another day.

I do not believe anyone who commits murder should be released after 10,15,20 years because they're a different person or they've changed. The person whose life they took can't change, they're gone. People who say that 20,30 years is enough in my opinion are batshit and would swiftly change their mind if they lost someone they love to such a crime.

I have, back in 2010. I can't advocate for mob justice and I can't advocate for the death penalty. The criminal justice system is not perfect, but its better than the other two options. What I do advocate for is better support for released prisoners and a system of proper rehabilitation such as used in Norway, not just throwing them in a dungeon to be forgotten about.
