A beacon light in a terrible sh*tshow

No fuss, no bullsh*t, just some good football. Another win. Another three points, another three goals. We move forward with this group, this team, this beacon of positivity in a difficult time. They’re exactly what a Boro team should be. A balanced, aggressive, talented, forward-facing team looking up rather than down.

Hats off to you Carrick, Woodgate, the lads, the backroom. This is what following the Boro is all about IMO.

Never give up. Even during the years of Strachan and Pulis playing brutalist football. We’re about to go into and over another peak. You can sense it. It makes those years of suffering, relative suffering compared to some, in football terms obviously, completely worth it.

I just love seeing the Boro playing good stuff and winning games and smashing goals in. It makes your life better.

20 league games, and we've scored 3 or more goals in 10 of them! We only managed that 3 times in 45 games under Wilder.

It's vindaloo football "We're gonna score one more than you", we don't care about letting a goal in because we know we have the fire power to score 2, 3 or 5 in return.

I never fell out of love with them even when we were rank average

Exactly this!

Those times just make these ones even sweeter.

Funnily enough, the attached photo popped up on my Facebook memories this morning. A 1-1 home draw with Forest on this day in 2014, in front of an attendance of 14,134!

Wow, easy to forget.
Good to see the hard core red faction in Attendance. 👍

Except we pretty rarely score JUST the one more.😁

Let's not airbrush the great spell of form we had under Wilder out of existence eh?
It went sour of course, but it wasn't all bad. Look what we ended up with as a result and look forward, not back.
Exactly!!
looking forward, not back.
it doesn’t matter who we played last week, never mind under wilder

Was thinking the other day, this is about as good as we can realistically expect from a Boro team and I’m going to really enjoy it while it lasts.

Scoring for fun, can we beat our top scoring season (is it 77 in the 70’s)?

We had a spell of 8 wins and 2 draws, plus FA CUp wins vs Mansfield and Man Utd that was very good. A 10 week spell, where it looked like we might be hitting the jackpot with Wilder. The lst 16 league games and the first 11 this season were however terrible.

He had 10 good weeks and 42 average to poor weeks as Boro managers. You can only tell the full story after the event and it's clear that the wheels fell off and he didn't have the man management skills or tactical flexibility to rescue the situation. He clearly had the players available to do far far better as Carrick has proven.

"Brutalist football" What a marvellous phrase. 👍
Boro football managers as art movements?

Robson - Pop Art (naturally)
Venables - Photorealism
McClaren - De Stijl (of course)
Southgate - Cubism
Strachan - Lowbrow
Mowbray - Renaissance
Karanka - Baroque
Monk - Naïve
Pulis - Brutalist
Woodgate - Minimslism
Warnock - Romanticism
Wilder - Pointillism
Carrick - Abstract Expressionism
