Aaron Ramsey

Good player made of treacle unfortunately. Think he’s going to have a career where he’s injured for the majority of it.

Rather have McGree any day of the week.

I wonder if we have a few players who are made of this 'treacle' material.

Good luck to the lad, it sounds like it was an innocuous challenge that caused it, with Ramsay being floored by a tangling of legs and he appeared to land awkwardly on his knee.

Feel for the lad him I felt getting injured against Norwich last season was when things started going downhill for us
It was as he was playing well. By all accounts he’d not made any impact at Burnley in limited game time at all but that looked a really bad knee injury and I suspect he could be out for quite a while and next time we see him will be back in the Championship.

On the other hand he has been injured after a foul like Hackney, Howson, Bangura, Jones - is the game getting more physical again. Just look at the number of impact injuries at Boro, at Newcastle, Liverpool etc etc. We all wanted to see referees allow the game to flow and be less heavy handed but are we now paying a heavier price?

Maybe so. But he is very unlucky with injuries

It weird isn't it. Players in the 70's & 80's got kicked lumps out of and played on ploughed fields but I can't ever remember a time when Boro have had so many injures. They must be a different kind of injury today surely, players today are basically fine tuned athletes that can't seem take a knock like players back in the day did. And that might be the issue?

Speed of the game and the collisions is night and day. Crash your bike at 5mph and at 20mph and you’ll feel the difference.

Also far, far better medical science for diagnosing injuries. In the 70s you’d run off a few kicks but you’d be retired at 32.

And that tackle from Aaron’s was malicious.
You could argue that Ramsey wound them up for celebrating his goal in front of the Norwich fans, but the injury was a result of that imo.
It might have been but it’s the type of thing that happens countless times in games up and down the country. Unfortunately Ramsey does seem injury prone and his body not at the minute able to cope with the demands of full time football.

I don't think it makes a massive difference whether it's as a result of a foul or not. If you're injury prone, you're still more likely to get injured after being kicked than a player who isn't.

Granted a really dangerous tackle is "bad luck" and could injure anyone. But a lot of these fouls are fairly innocuous.

Sometimes it's not even the foul itself that's the issue so much as being knocked off balance putting unexpected strain on muscles, ligaments etc. Some players naturally just seem able to stand up it better than others.

The other factor is once you have one really bad injury, its quite easy to have more as your body overcompensates, one leg ends up slightly stronger than the other etc.
