Ade Edmondson

Rick was a comic genius as to steal the show from Rowan Atkinson took some doing but he did it twice.

As for ade I remember the first interview/article he wrote about Rick after his death and why it had took him so long to make any comment. He spoke about how they had drifted apart as he was trying to go into more serious roles and Rick wanted to recreate the bottom young ones era.

I’ll have to listen to this as together they basically moulded my young viewing from the young ones black adder through to the comic strip etc

Btw I’d recommend the newly released 40 th anniversary edition of the young ones with tons of added footage.

RIP Rick.

Apparently his new show with Nigel Planer is a bit off the wall, and he and Nigel are given an acting class by the young girl in it.

I had the good fortune to spend a day ffilming with him for Britain's Favourite Walks. His favourite walk is also mine ... the Malham circular, which he used to do with his emotionally inept Dad (did we all have emotionally inept Dads in the 60s?). It was quite funny meeting him. I wandered into the breakfast room at the Lister Arms. He was the only person in there and he still had to wave at me, because I didn't recognise him .... he was long haired and bearded for some Shakespeare role I think. Anyway, he was great company for the day. I'd been warned that he can be quite difficult ... not a bit of it. He was charming and funny, and basically exactly like he is in the podcast .... including, rather emotional. At the end of the day he said "We really have to do this again". We never have mind.

Back in my clinical days, I used to wear special specs to protect the eyes against x-rays.

No a week went by without a patient telling me I was the spit of Eddie Hitler. Still, I've always been a fan of AE and RM, and there are worse celebrities to be compared to.

Rik Mayall dying is the only time I’ve been absolutely gutted when a celeb has died. That Desert Island Disks episode has had me watching hours of his stuff on YouTube again. God Kevin Turvey was brilliant.
