Aj v Ngannou

It is entertaining to read though, this cycle happens all the time with AJ šŸ˜‚

Looking the best heā€™s ever looked! While fighting Jermaine Franklin(he actually didnā€™t look good in this one), Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and a UFC fighter.
Whatā€™s your opinion of them battering Fury then?

AJā€™s making them look bang average, but Fury struggled with each one of them.

Joshua, whilst not his fault, still hasnā€™t fought anyone particularly good since Usyk.

Wallin and Ngannou were just ridiculously overrated because Fury made a meal of them.
He hasn't fought anyone of top 5 level. Wallin is probably around top 10 level. Helenius top 20. Hes made them look very poor because he has performed very well.

He's been putting in the work since Usyk while Fury has been dossing about for the last 2 years. Hes stayed active and looks very good for it. We'll see what Fury looks like against Usyk. My money is going on Usyk.

Wallin has a very padded record. Chisora about his level if heā€™s lucky. Even then Iā€™d fancy Chisora.

Fury has always fought his best against better opponents and worse against poor opponents. Itā€™s been a theme throughout his career. I think he needs to feel a threat to perform at a high level.

Fury has proven he can put on world class performances against top 3 calibre fighters. AJ hasnā€™t done that in his entire career unless you think going life and death with Klitschko who could hardly lay a glove on Fury 2 years earlier was world class I suppose.

I wouldnā€™t think anything of this AJ ā€œcomebackā€ until he fights someone decent.

Iā€™d like to see him match up against Parker again.

Youā€™ve made an absolute idiot of yourself here

People keep disrespecting Joshua and he keeps showing them up. Hope heā€™s okay, should never have been allowed in the ring with Joshua

Not really, was posted partly in jest.

AJ looked strong last night, fully deserved it.

Ngannou didnā€™t look the same fighter last night. Isnā€™t Tyson training him anymore? Once AJ clocked him when NG switched to southpaw it was over.

Pleased I never paid Ā£20 for that fight. Oh, AJ still sounds like a bell end in his post fight interviews. Iā€™m happy to disrespect him about that.

I think it is overly simplistic to compare like that.
Joshua for example struggled far more with Whyte and Wlad than Fury did.

Also Fury didnā€™t get ā€œbatteredā€.

He ran away from Klitschko for 12 rounds then went awol on the Colombian, so didnā€™t really back it up. I have no idea who else youā€™re classing as top 3 though.

If I'm not mistaken you've made your feelings known on AJ before, you don't like him and therefore want him to lose. I've said it before there isn't a heavyweight that is as regularly and unfairly disrespected as AJ, he's a 2 times world champ, youdon't do that if you are a chump. But OK. NGannou was demolished, his 'granite chin' shown up. AJ looks confident and heavy handed again.

AJ fought Whyte almost 10 years ago. Fury ran away from Klitschko so it wasnā€™t much of a contest.

He did, watch them back.

If we compare those, I'd say that Wlad was never hurt by Fury, just bamboozled. Joshua stopped him.

I'd say that the Whyte that fought Joshua was less battle scared than the one Fury beat. AJ also exposed Whyte's weakness, the uppercut, once people knew how susceptible he was, everyone tags him with it.

As soon as he felt AJā€™s power he was completely on edge jumping on every feint from AJ. Whatā€™s the famous line, everyoneā€™s got a plan until they get hit in the nose.

Iā€™m pretty sure Ngannou has never been knocked out in UFC either.

He was happy to walk through and counter Fury as they lacked power.

He took a nasty cut but still won comfortably. Ultimately until Joshua and Fury fight (if ever) itā€™s all just opinions.
Fair enough, I thought he struggled, but just edged the win.

Yep, hopefully itā€™ll happen this year.

I donā€™t like AJ, happy to admit that.

I donā€™t think you can read too much into last nights fight. It doesnā€™t make AJ the best in the world like Hearn was banging on about. Boxing is a funny sport - AJ will have to fight again, maybe even twice, before Fury and Usyk have fulfilled their contractual obligations. Maybe by then heā€™ll get a shot at the belts.

And even if AJ gets his shot does he beat the fighter thatā€™s beat him twice already? Or the fighter that has beat Usyk? Probably not.

I expect AJ will be thinking about fighting an influencer next. These fights are just money making machines.

Absolutely agree with the second point that it doesn't make AJ the best in the world. He's got a lot to prove before he's even in that conversation again as Usyk showed total dominance against him.

However I do think you can take some things from last night. AJ showed he is carrying immense power. He also showed he's fighting with a lot more confidence than he was 2 or 3 years ago. He's really impressed me in his last 3 fights, irrelevant of opponent.

18 months ago I would have said it was a no brainer. Fury beats AJ no problem. Right now I'd be backing AJ. The only thing we've seen from Fury in that time is a very poor performance against Ngannou. Of course he can bounce back but I wouldn't be confident of it. Fury has shown he can be caught and hurt over the years. He's not unbeatable. AJ is a total different animal to Wilder. He has much better skills but hits just as hard. I would fancy him to walk Fury down right now.
