Ajay Matthews - Fabrizio Romano

Wonder why he hasn't been given a chance yet, maybe the lads got wind of the interest and has made his mind up

Romano has deep links to European football agents. He has a vested interest to hawk young talent and `I suspect this is one.

Its a shame that they dig into our academy talent and try and whip them away early but I guess thats where we are right now as a Club.

Yup, let them get on with improving because we’ve all seen arnel jakupovic, ronnie O’Brien move to big European clubs and slip. We’ve seen Liverpool and Chelsea sniff around Nathan porritt and flop.

Best thing kids at a champo club can do, is get their heads down, and play for a contract, then push for a first team chance. It’s far better for them than trying the quick route to a Chelsea, juventus or any other big club youth academy

Because he’s like 17, and isn’t even a regular for the u21s yet. He could get a shot at the bench vs Watford mind.

It’s gonna be like buses this striker business. Wait for ages then 3 turn up at once, Coburn, Finch, Matthews

He has done very well this season, still eligible for the u18s yet has played a lot for the u21s. Not surprised if he is getting some interest.

Pretty sure he’s been part of the match day group for some matches this season. We’ve often had some of the younger players on the pitch for the warm ups.

The sad reality is he has a far better chance of making it big as part of Chelsea/City's academy than he does with us. If they are interested he'd be mad not to go.

4 if you count Kavanagh who got lots of attention and was then sold to Bradford.

Hype is one thing, but reality often is very different see also Bradley Fewster and I am sure a few others.

Hope he stays with us.

Lets look a t Matthew Hoppe though as well

"Once Hoppe got underway, he couldn’t stop scoring goals. By the end of his first season in the DA he has scored 29 goals, making him one of the top goal scorers in the country."

The DA is the development academy , one of the US youth leagues and MH outscored most strikers in teh country at any league, but where are we now ? Think this is a season before he left for Schalke

Not sure he has, they have just as high a failure rate as us, they have enormous academy squads

If scouts at top clubs aren’t checking young talent at every club then what else would their be doing with their time ?
We get this over the yrs , the lad is in the right place . He’d probably struggle the higher the club but , he would obviously get more cash and a new kitchen for this mam could swing the deal .
