Akpom back?

Would love him back but don't see how it's possible, his wages will have doubled and we "only" got £12m for him because he was in the last year of his deal, they'd rightly want that back at least.

Despite not playing much he has improved his scoring form over there, he's scoring a goal every 79 minutes.
 
In previous times I would've said yes, let's get him back. He's a known quantity and would slot straight in. But our current recruitment team have such a good hit-rate, I'm looking forward to seeing who they come up with next. So it's a no from me. Onwards and upwards!
 
Absolutely no chance. They would want money back and probably a little more. He's also probably been on at least double what we paid him. He was already one of our highest earners.

Think we need to move on from wanting former players to come back. We made a significant profit on him that's been used to strengthen other areas. So no logic then 'giving' them the money back and some.

We don't really need him. Just need to find a half decent forward to rotate or challenge Latte Lath and Coburn. That and strengthen the left side of attack
Silvera and Greenwood weren't good enough or suited to that role.

I imagine a newly promoted side or lower end prem may take a punt. I'm not sure he will have an abundance of suiters.
 
I don't get obsessing about players coming back, he had it great here and had the season of his career under his 'dream manager' and couldn't wait to leave, his wages will be a joke too, he's older and no guarantee he'll repeat his form. I'd rather we uncover a new gem, the days of silly wages are gone until we go up and establish ourselves in the premier League.
 
As said already; there will rightly be Prem clubs in for him with way more money for transfer fees and salary. I think there's every chance Ajax will actually make money on a sale if there are a couple of clubs in for him. £15m and £50k a week is pennies for most prem clubs
 
Sounds like most want us down the footer player boot sale, looking for players we can do up. We`ve done alright though with Rogers and Manny the goal machine, so it makes sense.

He scored 29 goals. More than anyone has in a lifetime.

I dont think he would want to return to the Champo at the moment anyway MDP. As mentioned, he would command a huge wage where ever he goes.
He has given a reasonable goal return for Ajax, so we will generate interest from other clubs who have a few bob to spend. Boot sale it is :)

Is this a joke? It’s an awful idea and wouldn’t work at all. Why would you play 2 of those 3 wide. No chance.

I’d take Akpom back in a heartbeat as a 10 to play centrally. Not wide 🤦‍♂️

We don’t need Archer unless ELL leaves as neither will want to be back up to the other.
 
I don't think people realise just how transformational Akpom would be.

If we didn't make another signing apart from Ayling and Chuba and didn't lose any of our best players then we might well smash the league next season, as long as we don't have the same injury crisis as this season.

Obviously not going to happen due to the financials but I would really love it to.
