Alun Armstrong sacking

Big Caveat on this. Some very odd stories going round that Armstrong was sacked because instead of being at Darlington’s last game he went to try and progress his sons transfer to Wrexham? Fans up in arms and ultimately led to his dismissal. Sounds too bizarre to be actually true and surely more likely he went after a string of poor results? Any Darlington fans know the story here?

The problem is the lack of funds available to the club. A lot of ideas are floated every season about how to take the club forward but nothing concrete ever seems to come of it.

I'll see what I can find out about AA.

He won’t do it. He gets tongue tied and nervous in front of big groups. Had a long chat with him about management one evening over a few beers and he said it isn’t for him. Plus, his kids academy is doing really well.
That really surprises me! He’s a big unit to be taking the pish out of mind!

Blyth Spartans boss Graham Fenton has been mentioned in the Northern Echo.. Robbie Stockdale and Tony McMahon too

Always sounded deflated and bemoaning his sides luck on bbc tees. Hardly inspiring. I was kind of expecting his sacking. Not helped by selling any decent players they had.

Absolutely terrible run at the end of last season carried over into this, went from top at Christmas to missing out on the play offs. Have only won around four games this year. Hamstrung by lack of funds, as fan owned - there are a few vanity project clubs in non-league, where I believe there is no FFP. Darlington's best player at the turn of the year, Mark Beck, went to Solihull Moors for a massive wage increase - Darlington are part time so can't compete. Lots of angst among fans about whether to try and get an investor in, but a lot were stung by Reynolds and Singh bankrupting the previous club. It's also hard to attract an investor as they don't own their ground and a good deal of match day revenue, bar etc...., goes directly to the Rugby Club. There's talk of a trying to get a new ground - sporting village I think it's grandly called - though there's a lot of political debate about location and planning etc...
