Amazon Prime going up to £95 per year!

I’ll be keeping Prime even with the price increase but I’ve binned Netflix off, their prices plans are outrageous and then with the new rules coming in about households in August I couldn’t justify it anymore.
What’s the new rules coming in August for Netflix? ( did a quick search and can see the password sharing additional charge in some countries and also the VPN warning but nothing directly for the uk)

Yeah I'm not sure when it's coming to the UK but it will be at some point, USA is on the 14th so I imagine we won't be too far behind. Got fed up of them upping the price, their plans being bizarre and now not being able to share passwords(which they encouraged) was the icing on the cake. I read into the actual changes and they'll ask you to pay for a new household if you're at a location for longer than 2 weeks in any one year. My mate for example works away in the same place for 6 months of the year, he would have to pay a fee on top of what he's already paying just to use his own Netflix account.

There is only me and my fiancee in our house so to get 4K without password sharing I'd have to pay £15.99 for 4 screens, why do I want 4 screens if there's only 2 of us here? Why can't I pay for 1 screen since we are hardly ever watching at the same time? If I pay for 1 screen I get a resolution of 480p, in 2022 that is bizarre. The 4 screens plan to me was clearly aimed at password sharing.

Basically Netflix only make 5 billion a year now so they have to make more money some how despite their content only getting worse in my opinion. I think over the last few years I've only had The Last Kingdom, Ozark and Stranger Things that I've been properly invested in, 2 of those are finished now and Stranger Things won't be out for another couple years so I'll get it back when that's out.

Come on tight @rse get your hand in your pocket. You have more foreign holidays than Judith Chalmers, you must be able to afford an extra tenner !!!
I can you’re right - choose not to do so. Need to save up for my 3 month trip to Thailand in January, Nobby. Escape our winter. Will be thinking of you……..

Prime TV is mostly rubbish and the app is horrendous compared to the others. I don't have Prime for the TV really though, it's for the deliveries and photo storage. I've just locked in for the year at the current price where I was paying monthly so in the short term it has pushed me to paying less.

I used to be a big pirater but the simplicity of using the apps for the wife/kids and the reasonable prices meant I switched to going legit. All the price rises and the excessive number of services you need to be subscribed to in order to get everything is making piracy extremely attractive again. Toying with setting up a Plex server again unless I can find a new pirate streaming service that is more Netflix like (if anyone knows of one).

Gone up a pound a month to £8.99. Still worth it for me but I can see why people would drop it.
I also pay monthly. I do 90% of my personal shopping on Amazon.

@Nano Amazon have redesigned the prime video interface. Due to be launched soon. Cleans it all up and makes it a lot easier to use. Fingers crossed they've fixed the search functionality too.

The boys! That's all I can say

And next season I think they’ve got rights to the champions league

£1 a month increase… I can live with that

I think Prime has some great shows they're just not as popular as Netflix I don't think. I think Bosch is absolutely fantastic, probably one of my favourite shows on all of the different streaming platforms. Sneaky Pete is great too.

I think Prime is good value even with the increase. TV and free, fast deliveries. Netflix still provides good value too for me. Currently using a mates Disney plus but I wouldn't pay for it or miss it if it goes.
There doesn't seem much on Apple to warrant paying for that

There is definitely some good stuff on Prime. I loved the Boys and Reacher. Wheel of Time was decent and I'm looking forward to the new LotR. Maybe it's just the interface but browsing is a PITA, it doesn't automatically select the highest quality version of a show for example. I never use it for kids like I do all the others but I bet there is some good stuff hidden in there. Hopefully the new interface @Randy has mentioned above changes things a bit. They seem to prioritise selling me things instead of showing me what I've subscribed to so it would be good if they stopped doing that.

It’s still one of the few subscription services that is very good value for money. Free delivery is worth it alone but prime TV is also good plus a few weekends of premier league games

I never watch prime even when they get the odd premier league game but the mrs does like to hammer the deliveries, I prefer to buy stuff from independant retailers before amazon, plus she doesnt quiz my purchases then. Our netflix sub laspesed a couple of months ago after a banking change, and even the kids havent whinged about losing netflix.

youtube is really annoying for this, why cant it just default to the highest quality setting for videos

Originally got prime for the deliveries and even after the increase its still worth it. The tv is mostly dross, apart from The Boys. I might start watching the champions league coverage though
