Amsterdam

I found rembrantsplein the best area, great sports bar with footy all Saturday afternoon and good pub grub. Smoking allowed.
Agreed, nice square with a few bars, Three Sisters bar was were we went for the footie, we were there for the 2018 World Cup great atmosphere, with people from all nations, remember plenty of Colombians and Mexicans for some reasons, when we played Panama, the bar was mainly England fans but there were some Panama fans in, great cosmopolitan city.

Mate I worked with went on a stag. They were queueing to get in a sex club when a guy sat in a van got out and asked him if he wanted to fu#k a dwarf. Slid the door open and she was just sitting on a mattress waving at him. He said no and the bloke just went down the queue asking others the same question😲

The Jordaan district is supposed to be a bit more eclectic and nicer bars etc. more for the locals and not as touristy.

If you fancy getting on the psychedelic truffles then go easy.

I went a few years ago and bought a box. I basically smashed in the lot. I was tripping for the best part of 10hrs. So I suggest take less lol.

The was a crazy experience. Although one I'd definitely do again. The whole consept of going it to a shop and buying psychedelics legally over the counter is mind blowing in itself 😂

I tried them years ago, I'm pushing 60 now think I might stick to wacky backy 😂

It shouldn't be - it was completely legal in the UK to buy magic mushrooms over the counter or by mail order in the uk until about 2005/2006. The festival shop in boro used to sell them but they were crap, we used to mail order them and they'd arrive in a Tupperware box.

They were just illegal to take. I hate mushrooms so we would blend them in orange juice. It took me about 3 years to enjoy orange juice again without gagging after those few years 😂

I've got memories of a mate trapped at the top of my stairs tentatively poking them with his foot and saying "I know what stairs are, of course, it's just I've completely forgotten how to use them!"

I've took mushrooms over the years, I cannot abide to drink blackcurrant juice dilute for that same reason, knocks me sick. Never really had a bad trip but a friend of mine did and ended up in hospital, never drinking again and becoming super religious, each to their own I guess.

Jordaan and the nine streets district are much more laid back and not as manic as the main tourist/red light area.
100pc. See also De Pijp. Slightly out of the way but laid-back with gorgeous canals, great bars and restaurants and a less hectic vibe.

I go for work quite a bit and we often up spending time around that area for that very reason.

Lived in the Jordaan for a couple of years and it is light years away from the ‘Brit-Strip’, as the Dutch disparagingly term it. Busy, but many of the tourists are Dutch. A good call on De Pijp too. If you want to move around quickly (though it is a wonderful city for walking), check out the tram system, which is excellent.

I still couldn't get my head over how small it is and the tourist numbers when I first visited. Metro region is around 1.1million (around 600k) in the centre and it receives around 20 million tourists a year!

Yes, went back a couple of years ago and was significantly busier than when I lived there, about 20 years ago. Figures may reduce a little as they have banned those obscene floating cities for docking.
