Another actual brexit benefit

Oh poor poor Randy. Lying about me is bad form. Especially from someone I ALWAYS interact with on threads such as Covid and F1.

It's shame people like you and @Laughing have to lie about me to create this bogeyman. I know we often disagree but does it make you feel better to lie about me? Rather than debate things with me?
There is no debating with you ST, you believe that the only opinion that matters is your own. Which is fine. You can enjoy your own little echo chamber all to yourself. I'd recommend others either ignore or avoid. 🎧

Agains a second lie. I had hoped you would by replying here to apologise for the first lie. Instead you just lied about me a second time. Thats a shame.

Don't get upset because I won't debate if all you do is post a tweet from a conspiracy theorist. I'll happily debate if you are prepared to bring your own ideas to the discussion. The sad thing is you know this, but you see fit to double up your lie about me with another lie. Don't be THAT person. Be better. Brexit is a great example if I'm honest. I get told I won't "debate" and I won't hear the other side. The sad truth is I don't hear the other side. Because the Brexit crowd have long since realised there is no defending it. Which is why they just turn to personal abuse and can just repeat "but you voted..." or just go on the attack. I'm sorry Randy but this isn't debate. I've said it many times. Bring something to debate against and I'll happily do that. Bring nothing but personal attack and abuse and you'll get the same back.

I've explained this plenty of times now.

I'm genuinely disappointed you've lied about me twice when I'm always happy to engage with you. It genuinely saddens me.

Well I never- Johnson seems to have lied about tariffs- I could never expect that from a person of his high integrity
You suspect that place of origin might not have been factored in from the current government. They are not exactly deep thinking.

I don't think that was a deliberate lie from Johnson, I suspect he actually believed it.

Tariff free doesn't necessarily mean cost free anyway, does it?

Then there's this.

Boris Johnson Didn't Know What a Customs Union Is

Frightening to think that a semi-educated drone like me might know more about economics than the PM. But then again, I do give a fcuk.

Shell moving their HQ to the UK.
A Brexit success?
Like Fk.
It's because they know we'll be a soft as shyte on O&G majors compared to everyone else.
And for easy tax.
And because a Tory will've had a backhander to look after them

That's a strange comment.

Nowt so query as folk
Hmm.. Not sure what you mean. I presume you would have preferred shell stay in amsterdam? I don't know what their move had to do with brexit, if indeed anything. It was more to do with an ongoing legal wrangle over tax, I believe. I suppose to stay domiciled in the EU, they may have had to settle the legal issues first, but I don't know.

I certainly have no idea what your post is referring to. You think it's a bad thing, a good thing? Will it have a positive impact on GDP or a negative impact?

Folks are very query btw, it's the rich tapestry of life

I keep finding these benefits that we are getting since Brexit
I was still welding in the London area in the mid-1990's and can remember the animosity against the Polish workers who were undercutting the pay the British lads were getting. Many tradesmen either had to take a huge pay cut to match the pay the Poles were receiving or look for work in other areas/sectors. It just wasn't worth working in London, paying London rents for digs and keeping a house going up at home. Owners of the building companies never passed on these savings to the public, they just reaped the profits.

In these disgruntled workers, Farage and co' found a ready made audience willing to listen to them and many of these men believed the vile that they spewed out regarding how evil the East Europeans were for pinching their jobs.

Wrongly, Brexit forced a lot of East Europeans home and as mentioned in that article, COVID didn't help either. Builders, like the guy in the article, are now having to pay higher wages to get workers to complete work and are passing these increases on to you and me.

I have no qualm with people coming to this country to better themselves, my own family did it. My issue is with people not willing to pay every man a decent living wage for a decent day's work, no matter what their nationality.

If only Thatcher hadn’t dismantled the Unions things like minimum wage levels sector by sector could have been tackled in such a way that skill shortages could have been addressed without undercutting the existing workforce.

All things being equal, employers will always employ U.K. nationals over foreign nationals.

The key phrase is ‘all things being equal’. If the Brit is less skilled or lazier than the Pole then he can’t complain if an employer prefers them. If it is ONLY that they are cheaper then they certainly can.

The Govt can take steps to ensure this.
