Any Non-fiction book recommendations?

I'm travelling a lot with work right now and need to be a bit grown up and stop playing on my phone the whole time. So i've bought myself a kindle but don't know what books to start searching for. Previously, i've read a few books on Auschwitz and life inside Thai prisons (a bit dark i know) but i am also interested in books on WWII, true crime, autobiographies and generally any Non-fiction books. I'm even contemplating reading Alex Ferguson's autobiography (Sorry!)

Ohh and for the comedy factor, are there any better books than Tucker Max's 'I hope they serve beer in hell' ?!?!?

Any recommendations at all are really appreciated

If you like History.... I've just started and am really enjoying "A Time-Traveller's guide to Medieval England" by Ian Mortimer. A number of the Bill Bryson books are very good.

If you are interested in WW2 I can recommend First Light by Geoffrey Wellum

For an autobiography try "Life" by Keith Richards

There’s a few I’d recommend:

The first book by the Secret Barrister - this was the one MP’s were told to read. It’s eye opening and shows how the Tories have wrecked this country.

Sapians by Yuval Noah Harari - you will never think about humans the same again

Thinking Fast and Slow by Danial Kahnaman - another massively important one about people

Prisons of Geography- really interesting about how people in different parts of the world developed because of where they happened to be.

The Railway Man by Eric Lomax is very good.
Any book by Bill Bryson is worth reading.
Bernard Cornwell wrote a non fiction book about the battle of Waterloo which is good(can't remember it's name off the top of my head).
Saul David is a very well respected historian specialising in South African wars and has written several non fiction books about the Anglo Zulu and Boar War.
True crime I don't really read anymore but Lenny McLean The Guvnor and Roy Shaw Pretty Boy Shaw are good I also read a book called Tarmac warrior about a gypsy Bareknuckle fighter but can't remember the author.

*The Bernard Cornwell book is called Waterloo! 🥴
*Billy Cribb wrote tarmac Warrior.

Two I picked up this week from Waterstones:

But What Can I Do? How Politics Has Gone So Wrong and How You Can Fix It - Alastair Campbell

Everybody Wants to Rule the World: Britain, Sport and the 1980s - Roger Domeneghetti

Here are some I’ve read recently:

Strong Female Character - Fern Brady
How Fascism Works - Jason F Stanley
The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read - Philippa Perry
Chimp Paradox - Steve Peters
Stolen Focus - Johann Hari 👍🏻
Conspiracy, a history of boll*cks - Tom Phillips
The unexpected joy of being sober - Catherine Grey 👍🏻
Surviving to Drive - Guenther Steiner
Atomic Habits - James Clear
Surrounded by Idiots - Thomas Erikson
Why We Sleep - Matthew Walker 👍🏻
Michael Carrick’s Autobiography…

Absolutely superb recommendations - thanks so much. I will read about every one of them today and start downloading

Thanks for the tip I’ve just bought that as I’m fascinated by this era.

As for my book recommendations I’ve just bought “tears at la bombonera” a journey through South American football.

“ Tears at La Bombonera is author Christopher Hylland's six-year journey living, working, and traveling through South America”
