Anyone else been knocked sideways by flu jab ?

Had it just over a week ago, as usual. This one left me a little achy, but much better than enduring flu. I last had flu about 20 years ago and do not want it again.

I had my first flu jab in many years on Saturday - no problems whatsoever. You can get them if over 50 through many doctors practices. I used to get it as an asthmatic - but luckily enough I am no longer an asthmatic.

I always feel symptoms after a flu jab, but nothing like actual flu. Just mild usually. Blocked nose, mild headache etc.

The pain in my arm afterwards is the worst bit

Used to get flu most years and that would turn into a chest infection. Been having the Flu Jab for the last 8 years and am pleased to report no side effects from the jab and more importantly no Flu. Anyone with underlying conditions or prone to getting chest issues in Winter really should get them.

I've had it from the day it was first available. Arm aches a bit occasionally but not for more than a few hours. A lot better than the 'flu.

Never known anyone have a problem, locally.

Some one somewhere may do as they gamble on what are likely to be the most virulent flu strains this winter. If they find an odd form then it might "get in "

Had the jab on Tuesday, felt rough on Wednesday, terrible on Thursday, fighting fit today (Friday). Im 60 and Its the 5th time I've had it and never had a reaction before

I think it’s pretty standard that any vaccination can make some people feel a bit tired and ropey because it is triggering the immune system into life, and so there are mind blowing processes going on inside these wonderful bodies of ours, using energy, creating inflammatory responses etc that can affect people differently.

It is impossible to get the flu from a flu jab.
However, I believe that if you have something lurking in the background, such as a mild cold, that can worsen slightly because the body’s immune response gets diverted to the new ‘threat’ demanded by the vaccine. It’s all fascinating stuff that blows my mind!

Anyway, I might be wrong but that’s my very basic understanding of things.

That’s a very intriguing supposition Fabio , as I’ve had a tooth issue for a couple of months that needed removing but couldn’t get into dentist till Wednesday to have it yanked out.
I’d had a dormant infection in my cheek that has been lingering and the fact the jab became the ‘culprit’ may have let my Diminishing infection go out on a swan song.
Like you say fascinating stuff .
