Anyone else think the police presence at Plymouth was OTT?

Was a really good atmosphere, especially between fans of each club. Was plod on alert due to a pyro in the home game against Stoke?

I got off the 10.53 am Cross Country at Plymouth, there was 1 police officer on the other side of the barriers, which is standard, but due to a missed message the guy who was supposed to get on my train in Exeter was on the next train a GWR coming from Paddington which was arriving at 1108am, in the mean time two police vans turned up and about 10-15 police rushed onto the platform with hand held cameras. The GWR arrived about 30 Boro got off in little mini groups with 1 stone Island badge on display 😱, when I met my mate a couple of police started speaking to us, they were friendly they asked where we were going, " Hyde Park Social".

After an uphill and slightly confusing walk to the Social Club a police car turned up with 4 police inside, 3 Plymouth and 1 Cleveland police spotter. I got chatting to the Plymouth guys and my mate was chatting to the Cleveland one, they said they had trouble with Swansea a few weeks earlier and we're being cautious in fans mixing. I asked about Friday, they had no trouble with Boro the day before. The Cleveland Police Spotter had been down for a few days, " it was pointless going home", tell that to my mates from Brotton who made 4 journeys on the train in that week. I made a joke about going out on the lash on Wednesday and Thursday at the companies expense, a tumbleweed moment, then fortunately the next Boro to arrive outside were a family of Boro, thank god they weren't just males in-between ages of 13-72, or I have a feeling the Cleveland spotter would have been convincing his Plymouth counterparts to be checking the Social club every 20 minutes.

I felt Plymouth and Boro were as friendly as could be with each other, which surprised me because maybe living in Exeter for 24+ years has made me a little anti Janner, but I realised on Saturday, Plymouth people are very friendly more so than Exeter on first meetings.

So to go back to Staffordshire police and the infamous Stoke City match , did they react the way they did because of Cleveland police? Because reading other fans forums Staffordshire police will act heavy handed if they have been given 'intelligence 'that there is going to be trouble.

Never before have I had to empty all my pockets then be frisked airport style “with the wand” going into a gane.

I’d been up since four. Needed a **** and was hungry. Not a hooligan. Just a human needing a friendly hello

I go to Home Park on a semi-regular basis, as I live close to the ground.

Argyle have been "wanding" home fans for quite a while now, it's not just away fans that get the treatment.
