App Store

Just flicking through my iPad looking for an old favourite game of mine I had downloaded and purchased from the App Store. Civilisation, loved it as a kid and pick it up now and then to kill a bit of time. However it has disappeared, assumed it has been deleted in error and go to App Store to download and can’t find it. Has this happened to anybody else?

I have bought the game and they have just taken it back off me. Can I get my money back?

All the versions that appear to be available are now free with in App purchases. I just want a game I can play, in past when have these in app purchases or free you end up watching endless adverts or have to buy something or wait till next day to progress.

I just want to play this or command and conquer or similar without the interruptions of these free games. Anybody got any recommendations.?

Yes lots of apps go after time I had a great nyc dive bar app that went.

Loads of great apps disappeared over the years, including ones I paid for which does seem unfair, but as the software gets upgraded over the years many apps are no longer compatible or supported by the developers.

Unfortunately, many developers realised they could rinse people with in-app purchases, often for very samey and unoriginal games (like the countless candy crush variants), and that’s the direction phone apps have taken.

Personally, I rarely download apps any more and don’t use in app purchasing bar a couple of isolated instances. The App Store used to have a fantastic ‘wish list’ option where I used to save apps and games to potentially buy in the future, they removed it in a software update and I lost a large list of apps I would have likely purchased! I used to regularly buy interesting looking apps and games in the 59p-99p range, but apple gets next to nowt from me now.

I think I had civilisation on my iPad years ago.

I think the thing is it worked for years, it's different to pcs getting updated though - the game was written for that version of iOS and would have been updated for a few years but after that less and less people would be playing it so they eventually stop updating it.

You can't get your money back because you played it

Civ is it the App Store, you can pay £10 to unlock full version after 60 turn trial but while I've seen comments say it's good, the reviews are average and some dlc is expensive. I hate the in app purchase model, but at least most the games of that style are free but they're a dead end without money. Your better off with a cheep laptop if you want to play full games like that

Age of empires mobile is coming August, battle of polytopia gets good reviews

Wish someone would make megalomania on the iPad.

Polytopia well worth a try. Lovely graphics and excellent game play. Has up to fifteen tribes to command for variety. No in game purchases. Short version can be played within twenty minutes.

There is some, I played it for the first time earlier. Looks like you have to pay a fee for additional tribes beyond the first ones, but they're not as necessary as in other games

Not actually in game purchases so game plays without them. Paying small fee just gives you more tribes to manage.

so I have to pay £10 now to access the game I had and already paid for?

I want to avoid games where can't or very hard to progress without in game purchase..

thanks will have a look at this one. Just want something that will kill 20 mins here and there, can pick up and put down, without to much hassle

It's not the same game I don't think. As far as I know the main civ game has always been premium unlock with a trial. You can search your purchase history in the store though if you think you did purchase it

What you may have purchased is civilisation revolution, which is no longer available as it was an old game, not compatible with newer iOS versions. civilisation revolution 2 is an updated version of that, still available
