Mcgree is taking the pi$$ like, missed 15+ games injured, makes it back for at most 3 games, then buggers off for over a month to play in a, at most, second tier international competition.

I like Riley and appreciate/hope that these rumours are probably a load of bollix, however, they do seem to have been doing the rounds for some time.
I’ve heard them quite regular at away games, mainly from people that I don’t know, but at our last home game it appeared to be the main topic of conversation in the rows behind me.
When one fan’s riposte that it was indeed bollix, his neighbour replied with the old adage “there’s no smoke without fire mate”

Australia one of the seeded teams. Would be expected to reach the quarterfinals at least which are scheduled for February 2nd & 3rd. So likely to miss eight games minimum.

I see Luongo has chosen to stay with Ipswich instead of going away due to their position in the league. No idea if he was a shoe-in for selection mind

It's not weird at all, he's an established member of their squad. England would do the same with a regular.

Whichever way you look at it McGree's selection is a bit of a risk for Australia.

It must be the pinnacle of any player's career to play for his country and receive as many caps as possible. We knew this was going to happen with certain players and although I wish we had him available, I have no issue at all with him going.

While I don't begrudge him going, Silvera is more annoying.
Only 2 caps, and has been an unused sub in their recent matches I think?
Chances are we'll be down a man for 8? matches and he'll not be kicking a ball in anger for any of that time.
At least McGree is a likely starter for them.

That is annoying but what do you do about it.
Loads of players go to tournaments and end up unused.

The rumour was that we had bids from a french and a Spanish team, but since neither were remotely close to our valuation it went no further, despite him wanting to speak to interested clubs.
It would explain why he didn't feature at the beginning of the season, but I'm pretty sure that even if it's true it had nothing to do with this current situation.
