Automatic Promotion - Forget it now....

Wilder's only just got into the club. Love the ambition but to expect an auto place for us to be open still, maths may show it's a possibility but I think it's a bit cuckoo. From where we were to when CW arrived, he's got us to where we are now, how the vibe is, the optimism, etc, things looking a little rosier .. but then going on to achieve auto??!... Just can't see it, particularly as Wilder is getting his own squad in and whatever else is going on.

We lost narrowly last night to a team who's been on fire, no stopping them. It's probably to be between them and Bournemouth for second place. So we should not let Blackburn get to us. It was a far better second half, had Crooksy's headers gone in, who knows ... though looking at Connolly last night, I felt he should have been starting on the bench with Watmore in ahead of him. It just wasn't working out for Connolly, put it down to whatever ... getting up to speed playing games, bad luck .. or he could well just turn out to be not that good?? We don't know yet. Just give him time, but I hope his continued selection is not gonna always be at the cost of Watmore's game time because that lad has been magic for us IMO. We need that energy, he never stops. I think he is vital in what we do when we do get the results.

Anyway. I find it's easier to just admit we really aren't quite ready for a top-two challenge, not for me, by now at this stage. Given the way things are now, I think 6th is about where we're most likely able to finish if we cut out too many more bad results .. but I think there's gonna be plenty more bumps in the road between now and season end. It's a big ask.

I just hope there's patience with CW as he's got a lot done in such a short space of time, understandably it's heightened expectations. Nothing wrong with a bit of enthusiasm and optimism though with folk who still believe the top two are in sight. I hope you're right.

End of the season, regroup, use the time we have in the Summer break to get focused collectively as CW's squad really starts to take shape. Things are moving awfully fast right now and the January window is never the greatest when it comes to bringing in players who change our fortunes overnight and there are distractions to our own players left right and centre ... focus is messed with. Will be glad to see the back of it, though hopefully with a new keeper and one or two more.

This league is so wild though, you just never know do you (for this year) ...

The only similarity between Boro under Warnock and Wilder is the ability to put in a performance like that. Other than that we are a vastly different team, faster in attack and intent normally and we score more and concede less.
It's also entertaining after far too many years of turgid football

Auto was always a very long shot, and yesterday's defeat finished it imo. We needed to beat Blackburn. Still every chance for play offs.

A performance like what ?
A 1-0 away defeat ?

Last season under Neil we got a point at Blackburn....
Thanks

Look at the results this season under Warnock conceded more goals than we scored across all comps.
Wilder i think 11 games, closer to 1.5 goals scored v every goal conceded,
I was not happy how the club handled Warnock going especially after how he helped secure our championship position but I think the club has moved the right way with Wilder
