Yeah, I think she was already on the path of self-destruction well before she'd even met Blake. She was off drugs in the years leading up to her death - alcohol killed her.
She refers to it herself in the song 'What is it about men?'
"My destructive side has grown a mile wide, and I question myself again, what is it about men?".
That song was written about her Father's infidelity, and the fact he'd walked out and left to be with another woman when Amy was still young. A lot of her adult trauma stemmed from that, and he was the one who was pushing her to go touring when she didn't want to, although none of this was touched on in the film. It was strange actually how the film excluded the final few years of her life.
