Badge re-design

A strong brand design should last a lifetime. Yes, tweaks along the way are possible to reflect trends of the day but the elements should never change.

Come on MFC - Let's get this right, once and for all. Let's tie it to the town by using the Transporter (as demonstrated above). The symbolism of this - connecting South of the River and the North and our Industrial heritage is very important.

I have a couple of hundred metal badges, before & after liquidation but refused to buy a present metal badge, like you ive never warmed to it, thought it was awful & amateurish from the very beginning

wasn't it designed by an art student at the uni and it was later found (on fmttm old site) to have been near enough copied from an American cigarette packet. Sure i remember the thread.

I don't hate this guy's effort, though I'd stick with the current lion design.
Arghh!!!

The club was NOT saved from liquidation in 1986. The original 'club' which a lot of people use synonymously with 'company' - ceased to exist in 1986. The Football League permitted a new 'club', founded in 1986, to enter the league in the same Division as the defunct 'club'. Stop re-writing history!

i'm sure it was the crest outline and the 2 ribbons on the bottom. they were from a US fag packet. 99% sure. someone will remember it

I know the lad who designed it, he wasnt a student. He was an employee at the club at the time, and has been successful with various design work since

Sunderland and Newcastle adopted them in their most recent redesigns.

I would bet it was to mimic them, though redesigned slightly.

It's incredible to think that we rely on income from having the badge emblazoned on all sorts of merchandise - and this is the best that we could come up with.

It really was false economy.

To redesign and change everything where the badge appears will be costly
