Any experiences among the group? Just spotted flights are very reasonable via Aer Lingus.

Places to go or avoid, thinking 10 days in April

Went there on honeymoon almost 20 yrs ago so I imagine there will have been a few changes since then!

We stopped at the hotel next door to Sandy Lane but we still went in to Sandy Lane for a drink a couple of times and it was very nice.

Also had a drive to a beach called Bottoms Bay.. typical deserted Caribbean picture postcard beach.

Bridgetown was full of high end jewellers and managed to buy a Tag watch for a fraction of the price they were in the UK. As I say it may all have changed since then!

I do remember the locals being lovely though.

Long time since we went but I don't ever remember feeling unsafe there. We went on a coach tour in the 2nd week and the elderly lady doing the commentary said "Now folks, if you come out don't come to this area as it's the red light district". I nudged my wife and pointed at the bar we'd had a few beers in a couple of days before. Obviously our guide had never been over the border in it's heyday.

A well timed thread. I was going to come on here and ask literally the same question. Planning on stopping over in Barbados on the way home from work in April 🙂 Have been told that the St Lawrence Gap is a good place to stay by a few locals on my flight through there, but that's as far as my knowledge goes.

Cool Runnings Catamaran day, sail around the island & dine on exquisite food & unlimited Mount Gay Rum punch...
Champers & Harlequin Restaurant...
Concorde Experience, Mount Gay Distillery...
Really quiet there, with the best beaches i've ever seen....
Was there in '15 & it was wall to wall eighties music lol...
Catering perfectly you'd think for a person my age (55), but if i hear "Through The Barricades" one more time lol!😂
I am strangely drawn to going back though!
Lovely, beautiful chilled place!🥰

Just got back a couple of weeks ago, lovely place, however, very expensive for everything…. Don’t believe the hype about all the very friendly locals, especially if you’re taking your wife / partner… very letchy.

As mentioned previously the catamaran trips around the island are good, just shop around for the best prices

West coast is best to stay on, but priciest.
Be careful in Bridgetown after dark and don't go off the beaten track.
I don't think Barbados is a beautiful island, but the west coast has some nice beaches.

Didn't feel safe wandering about off the beaten track. For example Speightstown. We were 'man-marked' by a beggar until a shopkeeper offered us sanctuary. The quieter strets of Bridgetown felt a bit dodgy too.

I thought it was disappointing. Shabby towns and scruffy countryside. Lots of farms with sofas outside and wrecked cars.

The beaches are nice but if beaches are what you are looking for then Florida is a better bet.

Top end of St Lawrence gap is expensive for booze and food compared to bottom end. Start from Dover Beach and Time Out Hotel bar and work your way up.

Last and only time I have been to Barbados, got the runs from their most famous dish(Flying fish). Had of a hell time snorkeling in Bridgetown before that happened mind.
