Labour have done the same sort of thing recently in Bristol Wests CLP and then the party got decimated in the council elections there a few weeks ago. So it can have an effect when the central party overrides the CLPs in this fashion.

Also it's not new momentum and unite did it under corbyn.
Theres a bit if desperation about it at first glance but it seems the CLP were fully behind it.
Shes done a lot of going work in the area and well respected
I hate to be negative about the left as that's where my politics are but we need to focus on attacking the tories and not each other. We had enough of that in 2017 and 2019 .

And understandable why they'd make an exception to the party's rules in this case.

So they may have gone 80% for her out of who was made available, but if they'd had a free choice maybe they'd have gone for someone else.

Before you rest your case you need to explain why "Spending years undermining and sabotaging the leader and then expecting everyone to rally behind their man in the name of party unity." isn't an extremely valid argument. Were the right of the party not displaying offence?

I wouldn’t say these odds are “tough” to pull back at all. And hope the good people of Batley and Spens vote for who will best represent their interests.

This bi-election is not another Hartlepool. For starters 30% of the population is made up of Asian voters. Lets see how effective the LP can get them out to vote.

Calling fellow Labour Party voters centrist sh1tbags is exactly the reason why the Labour Party have issues. Such in fighting presents a party no longer appealing to a broad base. Meanwhile the real sh1tbags look like governing us for the foreseeable future and even Michael Gove is second favourite to be our next PM behind a grinning boy whose popularity is based solely on his santa clause give aways.

I find it totally depressing.
