We have issues in Berwick Hills, but it's no worse than most areas of Middlesbrough, Berwick Hills as an estate is a popular estate, house prices are increasing and Thirteen Group currently have zero vacancies with it's large housing stock, also the private rented sector are showing a large increase in house rental prices indicating a shortage of available houses.
Pallister Park is slightly different, which has always been the case, PP is much more a long term estate where families over generations have being brought up and remain. It's much more likely that you will know your neighbours if you live in PP than any other estate in the town.
Many of the older youths that gather in Norfolk Place and Morrisons are not from Berwick Hills or Pallister Park, sadly a younger group that gather there are feeding from the older children and are causing problems, many are of junior school age, some of the parents of these children have repeatedly requested help from authorities and have been totally let down.
We have youth clubs running, some of the children have deep seated issues, many have problems at home, in the school and have huge peer pressure. We live in a material world where the majority of these kids see no future, something needs to change, and I don't think we can change the world, changing these kids will take time and money, we have very little time and even less money.
