Best Areas for Pubs/Nightlife in/near Watford?

Doing overnights for the Boro game/NFL next week. Does anyone have any recommendations for spots to head to either in or around Watford and potentially heading in to London? Staying in Watford.

Watford is fine, just like any other large town in the Home Counties with a mix of chain and independent pubs, but nothing spectacular about the town itself.

St Albans (8 miles away) is probably your best bet in terms of a bit of a different night with more independent pubs and a cosier feel.

However given London is a short tube / train journey away, if you're looking for excitement and a lively night then that's proobably your best bet/

There’s also a direct train from Watford Junction to Snorbens. Used to be a real ale pub crawl along the route. Not sure if it still exists though.

Sounds like a great weekend. Enjoy.

I reckon Berkhamsted might be ok. Never been, but whenever I go through it on the train I think “this looks decent”.

My local night out town. Beautiful place that I would say is akin to a night out in Norton in terms of the vibe. Has a lot more pubs and is a lot nicer than Norton but that kind of feel. Not somewhere for a blow out.

Personally, would say get yourself into London early doors before 6pm, have a few scoops and a bite to eat and then grab a train back to Watford before it gets too late (before 1am) its only 15-20 minutes direct.
