Best lockdown purchase

For relaxation: Celestron EdgeHD 8 Telescope, nothing is more relaxing than sitting in the garden on a summer eve, looking at planets, and galaxies and drinking some wine.

For Exercise: Bowflex SelectTech weights, means I can have a full selection of dumbbells from 2kg to 24kg in a small form factor, takes up about 1 1/2 square feet of space, instead of 30 individual dumbells.
Those weights aren't cheap are they Mart? £500ish?

Crashed my car just before Christmas and insurance were really quick to settle. Bought a new one about a month ago and currently its returning 4 weeks to the gallon.
Bought 3 new pairs of shoes/trainers which still have the stickers on and paper stuffed inside them.
Bought 2 high end watches but working from home mean i dont wear them around the house.
Got new bifold doors that we can see the world through, but we're not allowed to go to.

Tennis ball machine, I'd go mad hitting the treadmill or just going for a run every day.

So slightly annoying when the government decided to "close" all tennis courts as opposed to just saying you can't play tennis.

I've chosen to interpret it as tennis courts are closed for the playing of tennis. Whereas I am just going down and hitting balls alone, which is definitely not playing tennis as you need at least 2 people for that.

Pretty sure I'm complying with the spirit of the guidance/law if not the letter of it. No-one has said anything yet.

yeah, expensive, 550 I think, but if you compare to buying 30 weights between 2-24kg, it's cheaper and takes up less space. I mean you can mess around with a cheaper dumbell set using spinlocks, but who wants to faff around with that? We've all been there and got fed up using them.

I've bought a fairly random selection of music recording equipment and barely used any of it. Got two weeks off work now, so hopefully can be organised enought to get it sorted.

Nothing hugely expensive and a few bits that probably won't see the light of day once lockdown is over, but something I've been wanting to sort out for a while.

Got Sky Sports & Movies with a very cheap deal via Virgin just after lockdown started so that's been useful.

3 months prior to first lockdown we gave up one of our two cars, and made huge savings over the last year by not running two vehicles.

Put that money into the house which has allowed us to achieve loads.

for work and gaming, my 38 inch monitor is pretty tasty. I have a gaming pc which are in I’ve probably spent about £4k on the but paid it out of buying and selling various goods so it’s been nice having it for free

In March I bought a koda 16 pizza oven and have made hundreds of pizzas in that time, really good for the garden when it’s sunny.

All our finance is now paid off (just stuff like doors) credit cards are cleared and we have built up a decent set of savings. We overlay our mortgage by £350 a month end going to increase that now
That's great especially the mortgage over payment. Amazing the difference it makes. Agree re cars, I have 3 and the. Costs add up

I've had the same set for years, really worth the money

So we are nearly a year into various lockdowns and restrictions. What is the best thing you’ve bought in that time?
For me and all my working form home it has to be my Asus portable monitor. Means I can sit anywhere in the house and still have a multi screen set up for work. Handy for anyone who travels and is restricted by the small laptop screen too

Cool - I didn't know such a thing exists. Can you get a wireless keyboard & mouse to go with it?

My best buy has to be a PS4

And I got some socks too

I bought some potatoes, but it turned out they were raw. I baked them and they became unraw and tasty. My answer is those potatoes.

Oh I bought a Philips PerfectDraft to make up for not going to the pub as well, forgot that, I've turned it off for a month

Some montane terra mission hiking pants, not cheap but great in colder weather

And a new laptop, but that was as much necessity as anything as the old one was hopelessly slow

Depending on when lockdown ends, my favourite purchase could be a motorhome

Two for me.

Asus ZenWifi AX to extend the wireless coverage downstairs and into the back garden. Wife is happy and I can now work in the garden on a sunny day with no connectivity problems.

BMW F10. We had no need of a huge diesel any more, so we spunked some money on a twin turbo straight six Beemer. We love it, and it gets down the road some as well.

Bought and electric guitar and amp which I'm not addicted to playing. Closely followed by our new car which I j'adore.

Yeah I have a Bluetooth mouse which my sister bought me and use an apple keyboard. Tbh I was a little hasty. About three weeks after I bought mine they brought out a touch screen one with a better resolution. They are Asus Zen screens. Another bonus if you have a newish hauwei or Samsung phone you can actually plug them into it and use them as a PC. They have software in them which allows you to connect to a monitor and instead of a mirror of your phone screen they behave like actually PCs with multi tasking and resizable windows.
