Best musical scenes

My favorite musical if not favorite film of all time is Oliver Twist. Use to watch it evey Christmas. It was like a tradition. I was very surpised when I was back a few years ago for Xmas and you could not find this on the tv anymore over the holidays. I guess I am just an old fart these days and think things should never change.

Anyway perhaps one of the best musical dance scenes has to be the excellent "Consider Yourself" There are so many good songs in this movie.

I'd imagine it might be shown a bit less these days, given that the portrayal of Fagin could easily be construed - with some justification, it must be said - as anti-Semitic.

Probably fair to say most of my working life has been taken up by musicals and a lot of the memories of which are locked in my head. Talking about Singing in the Rain, that production I worked on, even though I was the one who did all stuff to make it rain on stage, I was the only one who never saw it happen! Two main memories for me are Blitz! by Lionel Bart, did it at the Playhouse in 1990, it was a National Youth Music Theatre production to mark the 50th Anniversary of The Battle of Britain. It opens with a song called Our Hotel, sung as East Ender's are rushing down into a tube station for shelter and essentially is a massive "f**k you" to Hitler! I also spent three years on Automation at Starlight Express, operating 6 1\2 tons of all singing, all dancing railway bridge! (OK, it didn't sing, but you catch my drift) The stunned faces of the audience when it emerged from all the smoke and mirrors were a delight to see and still remind me why exactly it is I do this job!
