Best night at the Riverside in a long time

Atmosphere, standard of football, desire, local born striker off the bench with an extra time winner. The game had everything. With this team and manager we are going places. Hope that attracts more fans to come to the league games too. The club as a whole seems to be in a great place right now. Bring on Saturday.

I can't remember the last time I had queue to get to the turnstile at the Riverside, I know I must have sometimes since 95, I said to my son, I remember the queues at holgate & we must have done it here during European nights here but I can only recall waiting outside ticket office. Bring on Saturday & I'll happily wait in line! UTB

It was an unbelievable atmosphere, right from the off. Had echos of the Liverpool Semi Final on 98. Took my young nephew and his mate and they were both absolutely buzzing.

Absolutely awesome. On a scale of 1 to 10 that was Steaua-esque. I’ve always been an FA Cup traditionalist, bemoaning it’s demise over recent decades, but I’m really loving these one off, play to the death games under floodlights. The last two rounds have been two of the best games I’ve been to in years and years. It helps of course when you win, but the format has really added to the jeopardy and excitement. Those last two games would have petered out into inconclusive draws with the Premier League team, in all probability, finishing the job second time around. Could this be the way to go to reinvigorate the FA Cup ?

I said after the game it was the best atmosphere since the Brighton game for me.

It's got to give the players that little bit of extra motivation to try and get promotion, knowing that was potentially the type of atmosphere they could experience on a regular basis in the Premier League.

Was good too see how our players coped in that atmosphere. Howson loved it.

Yeah I felt they fed off the atmosphere. It's the little things you notice, like when the fans were singing for Crooks and he suddenly made an ambitious run through the centre, which unfortunately nobody picked up. Could tell he got a sudden rush of blood to the head and wanted to make himself a hero.

Absolutely ! they'll want more of that, to a man.

Great to see all the young kids turning up, possibly for their first Boro game.
What a memory for them, and on a school night!
They'll be reminiscening about it on football message boards in 50 years time.
😃
A lass I work with took her son to his first Boro game last night. She told me he's a Liverpool fan so hopefully last night will have turned him.

He's 32 like but it's never too late to be converted 😉

My son had no voice by the end, he got home late and has woken up absolutely knackered this morning.

"Was it worth it son?"

"Oh yes, best game I've ever seen"

He was 8 when we beat Brighton and remembers it but last night was the first time he's ever really felt it like that in that stadium. Absolutely superb. As others have said it's not just the atmosphere or the result but that we thoroughly deserved it. We were on telly and we were miles better than Spurs, playing brilliant football and with a full house. We are in fact the greatest team that football has ever seen.

Great stuff !! Could really get us a lot more fans nights like that. We are heading back to the good days. I can feel it.
