Big Wins

Nothing like them.

Not only had the tension lifted following the third goal and throughout the remainder of the game, but knowing it was a massive game for us, delivered with a big result, just gives you that spring in your step that nothing else gives. Right before the international break. After a time we were all feeling low with our start.

Class. UTB.

I felt genuinely nervy going into today’s game. It’s been a number of years since I’ve felt like that about playing Sunderland as we’ve generally had the wood over them for years.

Despite our recent from, always felt they may be capable of bursting our bubble at their place. Mowbray is doing wonders with the resources he’s got but I’d have reservations about their squad this season unless they recruit again in January. A few injuries to key players would scupper them.

I probably felt even more anxious at half time going against 10 men. Sounds weird, but I was thinking it’d be typical of us not to take our chances and open up the chance of them getting a scruffy goal towards the end.

As it was, the lads were having none of that. Excellent second half. Professional and clinical.

Gutted it’s the international break now. Unbelievable turn around since the last one!

Funny isn't it. Preston started like a train, got 6 wins from their first 7, yet three big defeats and they'll be going into the break still 3rd, but looking nervously down and will probably be bottom half by xmas. Whereas we go into it looking only in one direction......

This happens most seasons. You always get the early form teams who kick off like a train then start faltering. Leicester must must be certain to go up this year. Ipswich are playing great stuff at the minute and on the crest of a wave. It’ll be interesting to see if they can keep it up.

The season Forest went up, we played them at their place and ran out comfortable 2-0 winners. They looked completely off the pace.

A change of manager and a good run of form later they ended up bagging promotion after being rock bottom by September / October time. It’s a strange division.

We’re are now moving into the congested pack. Another 1-2 wins will have us in and around the play offs. Thankfully we’ve nearly wiped out our negative goal difference too.

The difference between the feeling pre the Southampton game and now is insane.
15 days and five wins later, finishing with a battering of Sunderland.
Incredible.
