Yes he did
1977-78 the 2nd half of John Neals 1st season as manager both Pat Cuff & Dave Brown had a 10 consecutive games in the 1st team as JN wanted to see if either were good enough to challenge Jim Platt for the No1 jersey, by the end of the season his mind was made up & in the sumner of 78 he went out & paid a Boro record fee for a keeper, when he signed Jim Stewart for £110k, (our 2nd most expensive signing) to be our new No1 keeper, until normal service was resumed & Jim Platt was put in goal
