Agree - hence the 24 hour constant monitor - it takes a reading every 15 minutes.I often wonder how realistic a blood pressure reading is when someone has to relax for 5 - 10 minutes to take it. If you don't live in that relaxed state is it then just a picture in time that is engineered?
Similarly if you get anxiety it is falsely elevated, are you kidding yourself if you're falsely relaxed?
I had one of those for 24 hours... really interesting when it sets itself off whilst you are driving!Agree - hence the 24 hour constant monitor - it takes a reading every 15 minutes.
It was always said Elvis died having a poo - he had become almost addicted to cheesburgers by the mid 1970s and they were killing him.I once had a nurse pr*ck my finger for a blood sugar test and it spurted out like a mini fountain for a second or so. Her chest area the point of impact the doctor, also in the room at the time was shocked and he asked me if I was on warfarin, I wasn’t. They decided to take my blood pressure which was higher than normal, but not significantly so. He advised me to monitor it at home on a cheap monitor from Lloyds pharmacy, they were about £16 in 2017. Generally mine is around 127/83 ish.
Anyway, the Dr gave me one piece of advice to take away, which was whenever you are sat having a poo, never strain, as it can and does kill people by bringing on a stroke or even rupture an aneurysm in the brain
You have been warned!
I can understand exactly what you say - Blood pressure and pulse still seems a bit of a mystery for the medical profession. Things can only be applied in very broad strokes.Mine was high, I am slightly overweight but not to the extent it should have caused high BP alone. I'm also very active.
Cue the full barrage of tests, ******* into a bottle for 48 hours (the smell ) blood tests, ECG, scans, the lot. No underlying causes found, everything fine. Even my cholesterol was surprisingly better than average. So they gave up. Sometimes it's just genetic. On tablets now and it's under control.
I also have an abnormally low resting heart rate (40 BPM). Which they weren't bothered about for ages till my last check up when they decided they wanted another ECG doing and then sent the results to a cardiologist. Verdict was nothing to worry about. Which is just as well as I think I first realised it was that low 15 years ago!
Suppose the thing is better to know about it than not. You can do something about it. There'll be thousands walking around unaware. Like carrying a ticking bomb
Just had exactly the same experience.Had my blood pressure took at hospital few days back and it was 165/103 pretty high, I shat myself to be fair, bought myself a blood pressure monitor on the doctors instruction and now my readings are usually 128/87 etc .
I heard its white coat syndrome anyone else got this, didn't even know it existed until today
I do mine just weekly now. Its usually 115/75 range now I relax abit more getting it done.Just had exactly the same experience.
It was looking worrying high at the doctors, but within the normal range at home.
Also, this has improved my overall heart attack risk score (I don't want take statins lightly).
It does depend on age, but that’s not bad. Resting (lower) rate could be better (edit)I literally have no idea about blood pressure. I was asked to go and get mine checked via text, due to my age being over 50. So went and did a self service test (x2) and the results were
128 / 84
resting heart rate 68
No one contacted me about it, so I guess all is fine?
resting of 68 isn't good? I'm no Lance Armstrong mind you, well not nowIt does depend on age, but that’s not bad. Resting (lower) rate could be better (edit)
