Bola LB Giles LM

I still think this should happen ASAP.

We are going to concede a goal every game down our right hand side with Giles at LB. He wasn’t even in the picture for their goal. We can’t be so open down that side or teams will target it again and again.

It would be ridiculous to move McGree after that performance. I think he is essential to the way we are playing at the moment. I would be interested in seeing him on the right at some point - cutting in on his stronger foot.

I don't get that at all, McGree was nothing at all by comparison to Hackney and Howson.
I find McGree infuriating and most certainly wouldn't play him.

Giles didn’t show enough when he did get forward to take McGree’s spot who made a goal and was generally very positive in his play today. Giles has to play LB or he doesn’t get in the team.

Giles needs to take a look at the way Hackney gets the ball and runs forward. Never known a left back/wing back/left mid who has such a good cross on him that is so hesitant about going forward.

They're playing Mcgree narrow to give Giles the space wide.. I don't think that works with Giles in that role instead.

It's a double weakness having McGree and Giles on the left both can get caught forward and then don't track back properly. I would prefer Bola as left back then have McGree and Giles fighting it out for the left midfield position. I am getting more frustrated with Giles by the week he lacks fight and I don't think he's a particularly good team player either

Like Michael Carrick keeps emphasising - "stability" and "consistency" are key to the players and the team.
From his media conferences and reactions it appears he isnt likely to keep chopping and changing players [a la Wilder] in different positions.
Its very early days - but he appears already to be getting something out the players we`ve not seen consistently the last two years.

What on earth is going on with Giles? It's our worst kept secret that he can't defend. So his primary attribute was producing pin-point crosses (certainly in the first few games this season.. At home he has now become terrified of ever attempting to get beyond his marker. Numerous times yesterday he had the ball at his feet in position for a cross or to past his marker. Result. Full stop? Pass backwards. At the final whistle, after another opportunity he knelt down at the corner flag in the NW corner with his head in his hands whilst the others were shaking hands elsewhere. It 'seemed' he was distressed about something.
