Boris new PCR rule - typical of his regime

why is hospitality excluded from the mask changes, could it be something to do with Tory donors perhaps

I've just completed my passenger locator form for my flight tomorrow morning. It still says you can use a lateral flow test (which I paid for yesterday) and so that's what I'm doing.

If they pull me up for it I think I have a pretty decent argument when the governemnts own site says a LFT is all I need on the live site.

Due to go to Prague this week for the Xmas markets.

The same Xmas markets that are cancelled and the same Prague that has the fastest growing infection rate in Europe.

Think I'll see if I can get a credit note :)

Or could it be the fact that masks in hospitality settings didn't make one jot if difference given you need to have access to your mouth to eat and drink which a mask prevents.
Yes but before it was table service, and masks whenever you left the table, so why is that not being considered?

Nothing about anyone traveling who has recently recovered from Covid......I am supposed to fly home in a week's time for a Visa appointment at the US embassy. If I have to take a PCR I will very likely test positive as it's only 3 weeks since I got Covid. This will mean I have to quarantine for 10 days when there's no need, and that means I will miss my Visa appointment. As my Visa has already expired (and I've been stranded in America for 2 years now) I would not be able to get back home again after my UK visit.

Long story short, unless there is an exemption for anyone who has had Covid recently, I will not be able to go home next week :(

Still nada on FCO website

shambles isn’t in it

well I’ve paid my £80 now as boris the pm said from now so…

btw no one is arguing about introducing PCR tests im saying surely you’d back up the statement by releasing it up with some sort of official guidance or you know govt statement

and not leave it to the beeb to do.

Because as I said what difference did any of those make apart from rip trade to bits? For example, I'm 6ft 4. When sat down I'm the same height as one of our front of house staff. Yet she would have to wear a mask (spoiler, the vast majority of our front of staff still continue to wear masks and we still offer table service) whilst I wouldn't. Remember this is a virus not sentient being. It cannot tell if a potential host is sat down or stood up or eating a scotch egg.

I'm sure you're probably sick of explaining it but why do they make you leave the USA, fly to the UK, go to the US embassy, apply for a new visa then, if successful, return to the USA?

I guess because, if you are refused, you're already outside of the US and can't abscond to avoid deportation?

So a fudge again and I’ve wasted £80 because silly me I took what the pm said as govt directive.

Silly me

what a shambles and more reason
To hate this moronic clown that runs the country
The key is to only take official written government publications as what to do. If it comes out of Johnson's mouth but isn't confirmed in clear written guidance, assume it's a lie until proved otherwise.
