Boro fan recorded making racist gesture at Leicester

Forgive me if this has been asked before but I can’t be bothered looking back through 14 pages of comments. Do we know who she allegedly said all these things to? Has an individual come forward as being her “target”? It could be that the person receiving the abuse was just an ugly, short bandied leg person and therefore no racist slur at all.

It was filmed from a Leicester fan who works on their fan tv he said it was directed at person(s) in the Leicester family enclosure
Now confirmed Leicester and Cleveland Police investigating.

no nothing like that.

we've just got a bunch of whoppers who that being anti racist means enacting extreme vigilante justice against alleged crimes.

the ironic thing about the folks that scream so loudly is that they themselves are guilty of the same sort of ignorance and lack of understanding that brings about racist behaviours and attitudes. after in their battle to be seen as the most anti racist the most moral and upstanding member of the internet community.. their true colours are shown.. somethings even genuine racists attitudes!

calling for black footballers to receive harsher punishments than their white counter parts.. calls to hang black players.. where none have been made for white players.. the ongoing debate on the taking of the knee had someone calling for our players of colour to take action.. without hesitation or thought.. a white board member demanding that a young black player bow down and take a knee to appease his discomfort of a white fan booing.

did I read somewhere that the gesture was definitely racist.. because 80% of them in the midlands are black anyway.. or words to that effect? it's stuff like that.. things that wouldn't make you flinch.. but it comes from the same place.. which is ignorance.

Have you been drinking newy?
I haven't read the preceding 14-pages, but your comment seems a little unhinged.

I hope that you are okay? 👍
UTB!

I did see this and I also saw that the person had been identified and their seat number had been forwarded onto the club.

obviously it would be important to find out..

Was the gesture directed towards a black fan?
Has the person been known for racist behaviour at football games in the past?

Nobody has said anything of the sort. A few suggestions that she would not repeat the slur to someone's face. Hardly "extreme vigilante justice".

Why don't you step away from this thread Newy?

no I have not been drinking nor am I mentally deranged or imbalanced.

I do hope you don't put this onto anyone else who you hope that is ok.. just incase they are struggling with a drinking problem or if they do have problems with their mental health.

up the boro indeed..

I would say being found guilty without an investigation is an extreme position to take.. I would say that insinuating a violent personal confrontation is an extreme reaction also.. as is asking nearby children of incident to be banned also.

Nobody has said anything of the sort? I can clearly see that they have.

It would be remiss of me to step away from the thread when we have so many posters that our making outrageous claims and potentially putting themselves into difficult situations.

I have seen threads locked for much less than this and seen sensible advice given from moderators regarding conduct surrounding investigations and sound legal advice given.
Grow up!

@newyddion I really like you as a poster. Your posts make me smile on a daily basis.

I think you've made your point on this thread and I can see what you are trying to say. Innocent till proven guilty. Let's wait for the outcome of the investigation until we get the pitch forks out etc.

Personally I think the evidence is pretty compelling but I also find your approach of staying neutral until a full investigation has taken place a fine approach as well.

I think you should just leave it there. It's not doing you any good getting into personal battles with other decent posters. You are coming away from your first initial point and you aren't doing yourself any favours. Just take the notifications off this post and leave it there mate. It's for the best.

I agree with this. I think its highly likely that this woman was making a racist gesture towards a black person, but I don't disagree with Newy's take that we should confirm it first before we start demanding what the punishments should be, and that the age of social media has given rise to a culture of binary, often ill-informed conclusions that don't show the whole picture.

My wife is black/mixed race and we even clash on these things occasionally because I try to, in life in general, give people the benefit of the doubt and, where appropriate, try to exercise a degree of forgiveness. That's partly (though not exclusively) what growing up as a 'liberal' meant to me. I do worry a little about pitchfork culture too.

To reiterate, I do think its very likely that this woman was acting in a racist way and, once confirmed, should feel the full effect of the consequences, but there's a part of me that questions it purely based on how brazen she is about it. But then again, I'm one of these morons who goes to the match and only watches the football, spending literally zero time trying to antagonise opposition fans and plan fantastical fights with them afterwards. So maybe I am not in the best place to comment as I just can't relate to her, racist or otherwise.

thanks B_G I appreciate your input.

my initial point has been taken away by some so called decent posters desperate to frame a false narrative around me.. I believe it has been for the best and in my interest to reiterate my point, clarify my position and indeed educate the board.

whilst I do think it is difficult to impart change on entrenched archaic and toxic attitudes, I do think it is worthwhile.

I have been criticised in the past for refusing to follow the crowd on certain issues, on those occasions I have been proven to be right. I think the penny has dropped with some.. that they do have a blind spot when it comes to racism and I hope that others will follow suit.

Then quote them.

For example, people were saying that if those kids in the video are hers then likely they will no longer be able to go to the Riverside no one called for the children to be banned.

You are paraphrasing to suit your "holier than thou" stance yet your first post was to make fun of the physical appearance of the person in question.

that wasn't the post btw

I'm not holier than thou.. just the bar has been set incredibly low by some posters on this thread.

making fun of the physical appearance of somebody making fun of someone's physical appearance..

clutching at straws with that one I'm afraid

oh... wait.. is this the presumed racist which I'm defending?

Lets not pretend that an individual's hope that the lady in the video meets a group of Boro fans so that he himself can say to her "go on then, do that again and let's see what happens now, eh?!" is a friendly invitation to discuss the situation.
It is also a bit ironic that there are examples on this thread of the children in the clip being mocked because of the way they look.

It is slightly distasteful that what seems to be Newy's original point of 'innocent until proven guilty' has been twisted to 'you are supporting racism'.
The club and police obviously agree with the original sentiment as they are investigating before they announce any action.
If, as is highly probable, it does turn out that it was a racist act, then Newy has made it clear he thinks she should be punished appropriately.

Other than that, I agree that he should maybe leave it now, he has made his point.
That is his choice though, he obviously feels strongly about it enough to keep posting.
