Boro fans take a bow for your support of Leo

Read a piece this morning from the much maligned Gazette from an interview with Leo.

He went to great lengths to stress how much the love and affection shown to him through some dark days when he lost family members in such a tragic way.

He is so genuine in his praise about how supporters of our club showed sympathy and empathy during this time.

To openly demonstrate such compassion to a guy thousands of miles away at the time demonstrates special qualities not always seen these days.

The impact on Leo is clear to be seen. So to everyone who supported him and continue to do so there should be a real sense of pride. Human kindness from caring people/ fans is an amazing quality- and will be recognised and appreciated by Leo for the rest of his days.

Amazing stuff, fellow Boro fans. Take a bow

Well said. I struggle to understand some of the negative comments towards Leo on here, I must admit. His tragic predicament was an experience nobody would ever wish to go through. The bond between Leo and the fans is second to none, and he holds a special place in the heart of the club and its fans. I was grateful and touched by those who made such an effort to reach out to him in his darkest hour. This is Teesside at its best. Nobody does it better. UTB.

Absolutely love the guy, I hope Mr. Carrick has a decent role lined up for him when he comes in and Leo is around this place forever.

To have gone through what he has, and still even be able to get out of bed on a morning and right now, lead our team while we're waiting for the appointment of the new manager is incredible strength. I know I certainly could not do it, and I appreciate his time for us more than anything. He is one of us.

I doubt he reads this board :ROFLMAO: but if you're reading, Leo, thank you (y)

He does have a look from time to time!

Julianna (his wife) said to us that she feels more at home here than her actual home due to the love they've received and Pietro (his son) said this is his real home. Such a lovely family and so glad Leo got to fulfil his dream of managing the club!

Free- pint, nice to hear. Let’s be honest - he is very much adopted as one of us.

It's that Boro/South America connection all over again just like there was with TLF. Leo will always have a place in my heart. His passion for our club is absolutely second to none. It's brilliant to hear him and his family love it here as I can't even begin to imagine the trauma that the poor family have been through. It's absolutely heartbreaking. The fact that we as fans have given them some strength to keep going does fill you with pride. I really hope that Leo stays in the coaching set up regardless of who else comes in. Everyone around the club clearly loves him, especially the players, you can see that. He's definitely an adopted Teessider is our Leo. UTB.

As an area and a club we have great difficulties with our identity and its probably quite easy for Boro fans to not feel a part of something bigger when we struggle on the pitch.

We argue about where we are from, Teesside, Yorkshire, Cleveland, Durham, townies, wooly backs etc etc. Most things that do give us an identity we down play or are often ashamed of (Steel River, Parmo's). I'm just the same.

The Geordies on the other hand are united in their culture. Ive heard it said so many times that people have sensible geordie mates, but when it comes to football and being a geordie they become completely deluded. Other clubs and areas are like that.

At Boro the things that bring us together are different for me. It's about the special relationships we make, we seem to connect with certain people. The George Friends, Juninho, Aitor, and Grant Leadbitter, Chris Kamara, and Steve Gibson and
Ali Brownlee. What other club would chant the name of a radio presenter and line the streets for their funeral.

Leo, our love for him and his for us is a special thing and we should be proud of it and who we are. UTB.

Cracking bloke he is, never been afraid to step forward when things got tough. Hopefully he gets a management job somewhere in the future
