Boro have have a free-kick in the last minute and need to score, who are you choosing to take it?

I'd probably go JFH. Absolute power.

I doubt anyone will name someone from the last 5 years. We were only discussing the other day about how woeful we are from direct setplays.

We simply never score them😒
 
Of the current squad id say mcnair. He scored a beauty in preseason and had one disallowed for siliki standing too close to the wall not long back. But id say he usually misses the target 7 times out of 10, so hes not lethal
 
I can’t believe how many people have said Rochemback. He is one of the poorest regular free kick takers we have ever had.

He must have hit nearly a hundred free kicks into row Z in his time here and then he hits one wonder goal in v Man City and all is forgotten. Not a chance would he be anywhere near my top 10. I think he only ever got one more free kick goal (v Charlton in the cup game) but I may be wrong.

Personally I would go:

1. Ziege
2. Hasselbaink
3. Geremi
4. Barry Robson
5. Marouanne Zemmamma

When ziege was on a free kick is was as good a as penalty at times. I remember when we played Derby away and he curled one in to the top corner with ease.
 
Hard to believe we had Ziege. I know he left under a cloud but he was arguably the best Left back in Europe pre injury and joining us. I remember watching him for Germany and thinking 'he's class'. Then signed for us😂

I'd say a wingback before his time. He played like they do now. The classic 'wand of a left foot'.
 
Grant's goal against Huddersfield wasn't too shabby and also a penalty right at the end to win it.

When he took that freekick, I said to my son I hope he's not going to have a go from there.
