Boro , pools and Darlo

Bit of a trivia question i dont know the answer to...who were the last players boro have actually bought from pools or darlo...i can only remember curtis main from darlington myself.
 
I don't think we've ever bought any player from pools or darlo. Curtis Main came from darrlo but he was a free transfer.

Youd think theyd be good little nursery clubs for boro to find talent. Think youre right curtis main was a free. So really struggling for names.
 
I'm trying to think who either club had who we would have wanted over the years.

We were definitely in for Joe Allon; Colin Henderson's reluctance to back Todd that summer was one if the reasons CT left.

We might have been interested in Paul Dalton too.

Don Hutchinson is the obvious quality player from either who I don't think we were linked with.

Otherwise, I struggle to think of any who made me think how did we not spot him?

Early 80's we were linked with an up & coming youngster by the name of Dave Speedie, he eventually went to Chelsea in 1982

He was a cracking player & once scored a cracking hat trick of headers against the mighty Boro while playing for Coventry in 1988, Bernie also scored a hat trick as the Boro ran out 4-3 winners
 
I remember the Cov match and Speedie; I think he was there at the start of Blackburn's rise.

I hadn't known he was a Pools player though; he was a Scot I think?
