Boro Priority Points System

Interesting discussion on Boro Twitter and I hadn’t realised until it was pointed out, tonight will be the 6th league away game of 2024 and they have all made general sale with most not selling out.

Where are all the complaints about the Priority Points and those who claimed it was a closed shop? I dare say every away game until the end of the season makes general sale.

Is that more to do with the fact we have been stinking since new year though, well alot of the season to be fair.

Would all of these games made general sale if we were flying?

No of course not, but the point made about the priority points was that the highest points would "mop up" all the tickets meaning those with lower points would never get the opportunity to pick up points, and those the "richer" would get "richer" (in points terms) and everyone else would fall behind.

See it as an opportunity for those worried about not getting tickets when we're good to build up their points whilst tickets are not selling out.

Those that complain about this are ever so quiet of late.

They literally don't want to put in the long yards, but want to be able to have a chance of getting a Sunderland away ticket when we face them.

The loyalty scheme is as fair as possible.

The main problem with it, is the fact it's a closed shop in regards to the start up points.

Gold card status
Chairmans drink status

Both of these are closed shops and they need addressing.

For example - someone who's had a season ticket since they were 8 years old and still has it now at 28 years old (20 years consecutively) aren't regarded as a gold card user at no fault of their own.

Those fans who weren't born before 1995 are punished.

Other than that, the loyalty scheme works.

It’s only the Yorkshire clubs and Sunderland it’s an issue isn’t it?

Midlands no problem, London depends.

It's a fairer system than no system at all. It does require you to build up the points before the high profile matches come around. There is surely some opportunity for that coming up.

I don't mind scrapping the chairman's drink. I benefit from it and don't always take it, and it's always a soft drink when I do, but I don't consider it as part of my ST package. It's just a nice gesture for having been there during the WGS years. It's become a decisive issue, and if its doing that, it's maybe outstayed its welcome.

Hull will sell out if our form continues, Southampton, Ipswich and Cardiff will probably make general sale given the distance

Oddly enough I paid on the night at Hull last season not long after Carrick took over

What were they doing for those first 8 years though eh?!?

Yes, Hull don't allocate so many these days.
Their home crowds have improved dramatically in recent times.
