Thought id give my piece on the Marseille game, i aint had chance to get online til now and my memory is rank
Steffen - Did well, couple of good saves, some good kicking. One dodgy one but overall, the defenders looked assured with him behind them.
Dijksteel - Ok, nothing stood out
Lenihan - Solid, abslolutely class. A proper leader. My dad whose been around a thousand years, said he reminded him of Pearson just commanding, vocal, loved a tackle, loved a bit of chew
Bola - Ok, nothing stood out (A try out for the left footed centre half role we cant seem to fill with a new signing?)
Jones - Unreal, always wanting the ball and wanting to attack. Great goal
Crooks - Impressive, forget how quick he is for someone about 9ft tall
Howson - My man of the match, just looked sublime in everything he did
Tavernier - Im not his biggest fan anyway, he was poor til his goal but took his goal brilliantly right place, right time and excellent finish
Giles - Quieter than previous but that was v Morecambe, this was Marseille. He still showed his attitude is get the ball into the box asap by either cross or dribble. Exciting player him.
McGree - Did ok, quiet, but did ok. Decent link up play, nice backheel at one point i think. He always wants the ball which is good. I still reckon he'll be our player of the season
Watmore - Struggled upfront on his own against a defender from the NBA
(Smith) - Cant remember him touching the ball, or making a mistake so, thats alright i'd sign him tomorrow as backup for Jones
(Akpom) - Looked lively, lots of running, the lads all rallied round him too like they all want him to succeed, i laughed when he come on ahead of Coburn/Kav, but he actually did alright.
Overall, i thought we looked class. Obviously missing something up top but the link up in midfield between Crooks, Howson, McGree and the full backs, the leadership of Lenihan, i think we looked really good. Came away thinking that football is dead good isnt it when you watch your team win and play well, it's actually quite good.
